Haha, no been in meetings all am... :shakeshead: but hope to go home early tonight. :icon17: temps are borderline freezing right now.

Ahh "meetings" should read secret tests of new charboilchedderburgers.

I'm watching shows about ancient civilizations. They interviewed a Mayan calendar reader and he said that the world isn't ending on Dec 21st. :vuvuzela:

They are about the same price from what i have found. Kmaispeed has the Eibachs for $369 with no tax and free shipping. The Stillens are $372 after shipping from z1. From what i have read on these forums, the Stillens are better for a street setup, the Hotchkis are more for a track set up and Eibachs are a good inbetweener. That's why i was planning to do Eibach.

Get them directly from Stillen. Stillen sells them for $300 with free shipping.

Checked out the progress at the body shop on the repaint of the front bumper, hood and back bumper. Should be done this weekend! Be nice to have the paint back in shape. This car had 1 owner in Houston. I bought it with 600miles and 1 year old. The front bumper, the hood and back bumper needed work. Water spots, contamination etc. Im assuming it stayed outside alot. The world is tough on our cars!! Will be better soon.

Im documenting this so in the future if sold 1 can see the car was not wrecked. I painted it by choice.

here is my take for those interested

-Stillen are cheapest and best for a street car with lots of adj.
-Eibach are a great street/autoX (happy medium)
-Hotchkis are more track suited with limited adj. and much stiffer than stock.
-There are also tanabe, progress(sp), and other companies I don't know much about.
-Whitelines cost a bit more, are solid instead of hollow, and have good adj.
whiteline also makes rear end links. Nobody, i think, makes front end links.

I'm looking at sways and i narrowed it down to stillen vs eibach, with whitelines being a potential.

Thanks for the thoughtful report. I disagree with your assessment of the Hotchkis a bit. The Hotchkis are as adjustable as the Stillen (3 way) and on the medium setting, as I have mine, they behave very well during normal driving. The other thing to point out is that the Stillen front bar is the same diameter as the stock and therefore utilizes the same bar-to-frame mounts/bushings. The Hotchkis comes with new mounts.

on my G's stillens, the stock endlinks broke (rattles) after about 3k miles. i got meaty aftermarket ones :)

unless you have bent bar syndrome (pre-load) or running coilovers, there's really no need to have endlink adjustability..but most aftermarket endlinks are adjustable.

True but I just want to make sure in case ever anyone questions it. Paint work is not a bad thing anyways. Heck I usually paint my front bumpers ever so often for the great rock chips we absorb!

When I said hotchkis are less adj. it's because in front there is only one setting, 205% stiffer.

Are you running aftermarket sways on the Z? If so.. Which ones? And with OEM endlinks?

I got my Massachusetts Excise Tax in the mail today. It's a yearly motor vehicle tax. The amount depends on the value of your vehicle.

:shakes head: not cool. It better than emissions taxes they have in Britain though. You pay taxes based on the amount of emissions your car produces..people with r34 GTR i think were paying thousands of dollars in taxes...

hi nick! im running stock suspension on the Z. :p it's good enough for me for street use around here.

not swaybar related, but there's this just one dip i dont like how my car handles in my area...makes my car feel like a sedan. :eekdance: but dont feel like doing the work just to make that one dip happy. lol :icon17: i rather just take another route. much easier. :icon17:

sounds like a california thing.... i remember paying $550+ for a year's worth of f-king registration for my civic back 12-13yrs ago. then people sued the state or something and it was dramatically lowered to like $200. lol still high in my books just for a frikken sticker.

Kenchan, you make me laugh. Whenever I ask you a question about mods I haven't done yet, but you also haven't done, you rationally give me answer that make me go... If Kenchan didn't do it I shouldn't bother either!

:icon18: well, ive done pretty extensive mods on previous cars and honestly speaking, im kinda tired doing it because i change one thing, 99% of the time i have to compensate another while gaining some. after a while i began looking for a car that runs pretty good in stock form and only do minor adjustments.

i like the Z's overall dynamics. feels pretty good, but the initial bump over rougher roads was on the harsher side. so i got softer sidewall tires. i also noticed that the car felt nervous (vs my G) on straight line going expressway speeds... so i got lower offset rear wheels and played with the front offset. lowered wheel rate as well. car runs pretty perfect now for my motoring fun and roads in my area. :D

I hadn't done much with my Z I'm the last few months but now that there is a glimmer of hope for spring I have begun to get her ready.

Today I installed my Swift springs. Looks good but I can't drive her for a few more weeks as I am still waiting for my exhaust to arrive and I need rear tires badly. Doesn't matter much anyway because I only have two days off in the next two weeks so most of my time off will be with the family.

But come the end of the month, there will be some gas burned.:driving:

Its supposed to be 65 Wed and 67 Thurs here in Jersey:tup: Im seriously contemplating putting my Z back on the road to enjoy those days. I gotta do it soon anyway cause I wanna get it into the dealer to ATTEMPT to get a new trans outta them. 5th gear grinds. I know Im gonna get one of two responses from Nissan. Either its gonna be "sorry sir we cant seem to replicate the problem you are having/ there isnt a problem" OR its gonna be "sorry sir your warranty is null and void due to all of your aftermarket parts". At which point the arguing will insue. Im also anxious to get all the parts I have sitting here on the car so the sooner its on the road the sooner I can get it over to my buddies place to do some wrenching:tup:

Hey onzedge did you get your KONI'S in yet??????????????????????????

Just the fact that they like to bust the balls of anyone with mods. Im hoping they dont fight me on that. I know when I brought up mods to the service people and how it would effect my warranty they basically told me I better not do anything to the car.

Yeah they will try to blame everything on you. I know the story "sir maybe it's how you drive the car"

Nick911sc 03-05-2012 04:50 PM

They cant void your warranty unless the mods you have directly correlate to your transmission specifically. Do you have an aftermarket short shifter or anything like that? If you've changed your shift knob I'd put it back to OEM so they don't try to hassle you.

based on his sig, I would put back the oem one...they will say the extra weight of the aftermarket knob messed up your trans.

Cool. Now get yourself some dental floss and rubbing alcohol to remove the dealer's badge. That makes me crazy when they do that.

Yes, Im well aware that the mods have to be the source of the problem, which thankfully they arent. Im a step ahead of you guys, I already planned on putting the stock knob back on. I have wanted a short shifter for sometime but have held off just so they cant blame that.
