So I have set my sight on a pair of H&R and I called my mechanic and ask him if he can get me a set, he told me adding spacers are cheap probably around $70-$80 bucks.

I was :eek: , are you serious and I asked him about if I want H&R brand or something similar and he told me it's not a must.

I am thinking about was he talking about the studs replacement type.

While I was doing some research in here, I read the studs replacement type is better for track use and the bolt-on(H&R DRM) is more for street.

I know H&R offers studs-replacement too(DRS).

My question is, if I go for the studs-replacement type, do I have to go for brand name? I know my mechanic is trustworthy and he won't do a nasty job.

Just wanna see the opinions from you guys on bolt-on and studs-replacement.

mr.alcheng- only reason why i get the brand name is because of quality. bolt-on types have been used on track by many people with no issues.

ichiba's are crappy rebadged china made quality. i've experimented with those too...and they worked fine... just looks like crap imho while it's off the car. once it's installed can't tell a difference.

i would worry about the stud strength on no-brand ebay ones. it's up to you i guess. kics, eibach, h&r are all high quality. eibach and h&r are light weight too.

Why do you prefer Eibach Mr. Kenchan? Is it because of the lip issues with H&R

Mr.kenchan, if I am getting the studs-replacement type, then I will have my mechanic prepare them for me, so I won't worry about the length of the studs.

If I go with bolt-on, then for sure I will go for the best quality since I want to make sure the spacers will bolt onto the hub properly.

My understanding is for the studs-replacement type, the most important is the length of the replacement-studs, and it sits centered on the hub.

If it meets those two criteria, the studs-replacement spacer is being sandwiched between the wheel and the hub, and all three parts, hub-spacer-wheel, are tighten by 5 X single-stud&lug.

I find it seems a safer and sturdier setup than the bolt-on.

Just ordered the Shine Spec S lip and side skirts kit. Finally I'll have some styling on the out side. I've always hated the stock front clip and rockers. Good thing it was in stock. Finally I have good luck

That is part of it but I think they are pretty much equivalent parts as far as weight and craftsmanship. :tup:

Wat I worry about no brand is the materials they use. Even stock studs break if torqued incorrectly using no spacer. Atleast oem studs are manufactured to meet a very rigorous validation process. Unless over torqued significantly stock studs don't usually break. No brands could be studs made at some bonehead factory using contaminated materials using weak manufacturing process. It might appear strong, it can still break under normal use.

I do not think stud replacement types are any stronger than bolt on type if bolt ons are used correctly. :) bolt on types are convenient to use on wheels that have cavities between the studs on the disc. Stud replacement type is more convenient for all sorts of wheels although a little bit of a pita to install or remove.

Finally drove my car today a little to test it out,it runs great and it revs up like my GSXR 750,man tomorrow if the weather is good about 30 of us are going to Z1 for a BBQ and dyno day I'm going to put it up on the dyno to see if the proof is in the pudding.:icon17:

I took her out of the garage to go to the gun range. When I got back I had a surprise on the porch. It was my spacers. Finally!! It was an easy DIY with the help of Modshack and a few other people. I ran into a problem though neither of my front rotors had that little screw that holds it tight. Do they actually need that?! I am a little concerned with that screw not being there!! Any thoughts on that? Thanks for any input in advance!!

well I was going to order H&R 15 and 15 but a guy from chicago told me how his front's didn't last 1 month (only 1 track day) and both front lips sheared off....:shakes head:

I may have to switch to eibachs because I haven't heard about anything bad (though less people have them)

Will you consider the studs-replacement type?? I am thinking about getting that instead of bolt-on.
