Buy some touch up paint, to cover up the key marks to come.

Washed and started a nice detail job yesterday. Will finish today. The next week here in South Germany is very very nice. Spring almost early!
Will wax mostly today and look over the paint good and do some touch up on small spots.
Thursday the car goes into my landlord's body shop for the front/rear bumper and most likely the hood. This car sat outside for a few months with the dealer in the Houston area. There are water spots that will just not come out at all. Ive done a nice clay of the whole car just this past fall and that made a huge difference in the feel of the paint.

Black paint is also a total bee otch!
This car only has 7k miles on it and the paint should be a lot better. Doesnt help that Im OCD about cars either :) :driving:

Import sounds like you had a great time. My Nissan experience was good. Your basic good dealer experience. My ZL1 experience has soo far been kinda mysterious. Took almost 2 weeks to get bank approval for loan. I called to get my order # and they said that the computers where down (I did find out that the computer that issues ZL1 vins. was down) and also that they don't usually give out the order #. They are supposed to call me this week with the order #. I've been told that it could take up to 10 weeks to get my car. I've also learned that the plant has shut down for a second time in 3 weeks and that I may be getting a 2013 as after ths shutdown the plant will be making only 2013's.

Fire 02-26-2012 06:55 AM

Happy Daytona 500 Day guys. Looking forward to a lazy day of watching racing on TV. :tiphat:

It's not brand related. All individual dealership.

Happy that will be part of the deal this coming 2 weeks with the car at the body shop. Actually the front/rear quarters and doors are ok.

The top is not bad but I can live with it. The hood is a loser as are the front and rear bumpers. I will keep you posted.

Nick911sc 02-26-2012 10:24 AM

You make me want to get swifts. My car is stock height... Still scrapes, haha. But I'm itching to be lower. What size tires are you running?

Saving to buy a house in NY really puts a damper on all of my mod desires, I'm only running an exhaust!

kenchan 02-26-2012 10:26 AM

mr.onzedge runs stock tire size like me.

Nick911sc 02-26-2012 10:29 AM

Interesting! Must just be deceiving haha. I have no desire to run anything other than stock size. But from the picture that sidewall looks different than stock.

Fire 02-26-2012 10:36 AM

I'm running stock touring/sport tires. Also in NY and yes I'm very cautious with potholes etc.

Spacers??

Nick911sc 02-26-2012 10:37 AM

As I don't drive my car everyday I'm so tempted to lower it... But I'm just concerned because at stock height I scrape going in and out of my fiance's driveway.. and if I'm lower I'll probably scrape coming out of mine considering I'm just barely clearing it lol

Fire 02-26-2012 10:42 AM

I scrape only on those factory wind deflectors infront of the front tires. I do come in at an angle though.

SPOHN 02-26-2012 10:45 AM

Just bought the new twin super charger kit from GTM (TSC). I wish. LOL. That baby is bada$$. It's so nice to see a company put out quality product one after another.

totally agree man, GTM never stops being an amazing company.

@fire: I should fix my post to say that I've never actually scraped my car itself. Just the chin spoiler (on rare occasion) and the wind deflectors. I'm just not sure what's going to start happening if my car is lower. If those same parts are the only thing that scrape then I don't care, but if I start getting body damage I'll be an emotional wreck.

Fire 02-26-2012 10:52 AM

As said I don't scrape with my stillen spoiler. I have Eibach lowering springs. You must have a really terrible approach angle to be scraping at stock height. I have wheel spacers also.

Fire 02-26-2012 10:55 AM

Spohn I can see ya being the first with a twin supercharger. :ughdance:

Nick911sc 02-26-2012 10:56 AM

The secrets out.. I don't know how to pull into driveways!

But in all seriousness, the real issue with my fiances driveway(besides the angle) is that there are always multiple cars in the driveway that take away my proper entry and exit angle. :(

I run the stock sizes with 15 mm spacers all around (on Swift Spec-R and Konis next week when I return from a business trip).

Fire 02-26-2012 11:13 AM

I understand Nick when I back out of my driveway I scrape much worse because I do not have the angle I want but it is only those deflectors.
Hey onze happy sunday.:tiphat:

How do you like the Swifts + koni's? How much of a drop do you have? What made you choose that over the BC or Stance type options in the cheaper price range? Just curious as I'm interested in that combo versus what can be had without going KW's lol

If you want to PM me instead of us filling up this thread that's cool too haha, (and if you don't mind telling me how much they set you back)

I don't mind clogging up the thread. I don't have the Koni's installed yet -- my schedule has been screwy the past few weeks, so sext Saturday is my target installation day.

I went with Koni because I have used them on several cars, starting with my 1967 Datsun 1600 Roadster I bought in 1978. In my opinion, there is no better shock. My wife's 2001 Echo even has Koni Sport-D on it (I got a smoking deal on them from a Koni dealer and friend). The Swifts I got because I wanted a mild drop and better springs. I almost went Eibach, but heard from a few 370 guys about the Swift and their performance compared to Eibachs. They were right. BTW -- I also have Hotchkis sway bars.

I considered coil-overs (Bilstein) but, again in my opinion, coil-overs are a bit of a hassle for street use and I do not track my car.

I hope this helps.

Nick911sc 02-26-2012 11:34 AM

Thanks! I don't and do not plan on tracking my car either.

Well Brantly, I don't plan on ever taking it off.

Seriously, if I really needed to get it off, I could do it. When I changed to a Nismo bumper, I gave a buddy of mine my EVO-R cf fang cover. It took some patience to get it off, but it came off.

My biggest fear is my new $600 spoiler flying off on the freeway one day. It's not going anywhere right now.

Nick911sc 02-26-2012 12:56 PM

My dad had an extra GT-R emblem and this is what he did with it lol

It's freakin raining at Daytona :shakes head: Hey Nick just noticed how unimpressive the shifter area is in the GTR. I think it needs a better look. My 7AT is a better look.

happytheman 02-26-2012 01:32 PM

Yup, I'm looking at it outside my window right now...pouring away. :(

Fire 02-26-2012 01:34 PM

Happy WTH get rid of that rain. :stirthepot: Where in Fla are ya?

happytheman 02-26-2012 01:35 PM

I'll pull the Z outside. That'll be sure to do it.

Fire 02-26-2012 01:36 PM

If I pull out the Z it will instantly downpour. :shakes head:

happytheman 02-26-2012 01:49 PM

Looks like it worked!

Fire 02-26-2012 01:54 PM

The radar don't look good. It looks like after it quits the rain will come back in about an hour.:shakes head:
