I think your lie'n. How do you drive the car home "looking like it was crushed in half by Zeus, and a flat"
I mean it sounds serious enough for ANY logical person to immidiatly call the cops...even if you tried to 'chase' him down - you would have then pulled over at the time where you realized you couldnt catch him. The whole thing sounds so weird...and you have time to post on a forum to get input FIRST? Are you sure your not the one that hit and ran? This might sound a bit harsh but I work with alot of policemen and its like second nature for me to ask questions like this... Oh ya - while you were trying to chase him down, how dont you even know what kind of car/truck, make/model/color ANYTHING?? Let me guess, super foggy and visibility reduced to 15 feet ? EDIT: Dispite this, I do hope/am glad that you are OK, as that ofcoarse is the most important thing.

Well, look at the time of his post. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I would surmise that it was dark, thus making it even more difficult to identify the truck(?) But I agree that taking the time to fix the flat in order to drive home (if that's what he did) but not calling the cops is a little strange.
Either way, DinoJ I want to say glad you're not hurt, but it sounds like maybe you are, so . . . get well soon?

If this is true, then...well, I guess I hope you're ok. But, I question even the REMOTE idea of leaving the scene of an accident to try to chase someone? As soon as you realized you had a flat, you should have stopped and called the police. What on earth were you thinking?
On the other hand...you drove all the way home and didn't call the cops? Thats even more silly. I'm sorry, I find this post very shifty to say the least, and if I was an insurance adjuster I'd immediately question it.

Ok, from my perspective ( CPD)... I know you already know this but, number one honestly you were wrong, you shouldnt have left at all.. second I know it was raining hard and dark and that made it difficult to see a make/model clearly, but give me something a color.,.. truck, car something...third why in the heck were you posting on here as opposed to calling the nearest district.. its too late now dont bother just go through your insurance .. again as everyone stated your premium is going to to go sky high but you live and you learn..you know for next time...again im not saying you are being supicious just going about things in the wrong way...

As an insurance person or a cop my thought on this matter would be that:
Driver was playing around in the rain. Lost control, crashed. Drove home, went to internet to fabricate excuse.

Need to see some pics of the damage.....the pic will explain it all......
i would have called the police and just tow the car back home....not worth driving on a flat back home......and definitely wouldn't feel like installing the spare at a time like that.....it would wise to see a Dr after something like that...neck pains suck and back pain.... over here, if it's a small hit and run....you gotta go to the police station, but something like that being rammed off the road...... that's bigger than a small hit and run fender bender....

Take it easy guys. Why would anybody lie about that? The only reason I think makes sense (credit to DannyGT) is if he was the guy who did the hit and run - to gain perspective on what chances the other guy has of catching him... But if that was the case then how would he end up with a smashed rear-end? He said he'll post pics. It should be easy to tell if he was rear-ended, right? I guess he could have damage to rear from something else, but insurance would definitely be able to tell the difference, so that's kind of a moot point.
And why would he not just say he called the police from the scene if he was pretending to be the other guy? I mean that's what most people would do. As far as posting on the internet to cover your ***, I seriously doubt an insurance company cares about that. I can just see them saying "well, he posted in an online forum that it was a hit and run so it must be true." lol. I think it was just a stupid mistake. A lot of people don't think straight during and immediately after serious accidents. You would think he could basic identifying features, but again, if you are rear-ended in the rain, at night, not expecting it at all, and it happens with such force and speed that you spin out and hit the median and a couple trees, it is plausible that he he didn't catch anything. I don't know why in the hell he would drive off without contacting the police, it does seem retarded, but maybe he was DUI or had drugs in the car and just didn't want to admit that part. |

I can tell if he was rear ended or not ..no prob.. as far as having other stuff in the car (illegal contraband) I cant speak on that.. and being DUI possibly idk.. but none of that matters at this point for him.. as I stated there is no point in going to us to have us look for him right now quite honestly.. just file a report to the station for insurance purposes.
