Dashcamtalk.com is an excellent site that does comparisons & tests of almost all dashcams.You can narrow down your choices & then do a side by side comparison.
I also bought 2 dash cam harnesses on Amazon that hardwire into the car's fuse panel,thereby not requiring use if the 12 volt socket plug.The 2nd harness is in my other car & I can swap the camera over in a minute or so should I feel the need or requirement. My wife bought me a DoD LS460W for Christmas last year, a camera that I know nothing about . She researched it & it does what I want it to do. Customer tech support & accessories are just up the road from me also. In the USA, go to Home - DOD Tech USA In Canada, www.DoD-Tech.ca.  I didn't see the reference by Madwi referring to Dashcamtalk.
