Is the thought you'll be shifting so fast that you'll wear out the synchros quicker (you aren't speed shifting all the time)? Easy enough to throw the stock shifter back in if you started to have a problem. Either way both the clutch and synchros are most likely going to be consider a wear item right? Maybe I'll eat crow later on this one, but I've rebuilt a lot several manual transmission in my garage, if something happens, I'll most likely be the one fixing it anyways.
As far as Nissan is concerned, your shifter assembly is an integral part of your tranny. I guarantee you that if you show up to a dealer with tranny problems, your warranty will be voided if you have or have had an aftermarket shifter assembly on there.
You would be very surprised at how much the shifter assembly has to do with the transmission reliability. Believe me, I learnt this the hard way with past cars.

Agreed 100%...OhioYJ sounds like he has never had a warranty discussion with a stealership before...

This warranty argument is silly, why would you take the car into the dealer for transmission problems with an aftermarket shifter on it still? It takes maybe an hour to out the stock shifter back in? Put the stock shifter back in drive the car to the dealer, no big deal.

This is like the collectors who don't want to take a toy out of the box because they might harm it or ruin the value. I'm going to play with my toy and enjoy it.

How is it silly? Its a legitimate issue that someone may need to deal with if they put it on. Why not discuss the pros and cons of ownership and not just say its awesome because your defending your purchase...

I like the distance between gears on the Z, I had a short shifter on my Acura TL but the distance OEM was really far in between gears. I'm not sure if I would want to miss shift with a short shifter and I image the difference doesn't warrant the amount of work it takes to do so, but I guess to each their own, personally I rest my elbow on the center compartment and am able to shift with the twist of the wrist, good luck OP.

Okay, you just lost my support here. You're deliberately hiding something you did, and expecting someone else to pay for your actions. What makes this worse, is you think it's no big deal
