Interesting experience on US 97, which was a 2-lane through the mountains... I was passing a chitty rental camper at WOT and my V1 Valentine started screaming 8 and 9 KA-band hits from in front, sides, and back. Happened three more times over the course of 30 miles when I went WOT to pass someone. Thinking, aircraft patrol?

If it was, I'm flattered.

Day Seven: 8:51 wheel-hours, 503 miles. From Colville, WA to Missoula, MT. Highlights included this unexpected and short yet delightful stretch of ID 6 between ID 3 and 9, terrain map pictured below, and the 202 miles of US 12 between Lewiston, ID and Lolo, MT, also known as The Northwest Passage, an All-American Road.

US 12 follows the course of the Lochsa River like Spoiler on the scent of fresh bacon. The western terminus has an elevation of around 1,000 ft. The route rises gently to 4,000 ft. over 150 miles, then ascends abruptly to crest at Lolo Pass, elev. 5,235 ft. The All-American portion terminates 32 miles later at Lolo. For that reason, and because eastbound traffic is much lighter, I recommend starting at Lewiston.

And you'll be grinning like an idiot for at least 99 beautiful, curvy, glorious miles.

Bonus points for popping it in neutral bc you're almost out of gas after you crest the pass, and throwing the computer for a loop. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...36be56f3bf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e72c98f93e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...108a0d84f2.jpg

Nissan is cutting cutting 10% of it's product line and 12500 jobs. Is the z going to survive?

You're late to the party.

I came very close to hitting a deer this morning. 5 am, dark, highway on ramp, around a curve, spirited driving. she was just standing there in the middle of the road. I started to apply my brakes and fade left, in the direction she was facing. luckily she turned around and walked the opposite way. missed her by less than 10 feet probably doing 40. close call.

Day Eight: 6:52 wheel-hours; 439 miles. From Missoula, MT to Jackson, WY. Enjoying the wilderness - on foot - for a few days. Total mileage so far - 5,423.

In the meanwhile, enjoy the Grand Tetons (that's Big Titties in French) in the background. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c95f16096f.jpg

haven't been on here much lately and forgot to post this, but at the end of june I drove down from Boston to Myrtle Beach for a golf trip. On the way down I stayed overnight at my uncles in NY, but on the way back did the entire trip from Myrtle Beach back to Boston in ONE DAY. I was completely out of it by the time I got back. I was on the road that day from 5AM until 10PM :ughdance:

Finally got around to installing the z1 cai i've had laying around. Pretty straight forward. My only advice is to let the car idle without revving for a good while to give the ecu time to adjust. I think i got a lil too excited the first time around and revved the engine before ecu had time to adjust. Lol. Car went into limp mode and i had to go through the throttle body relearn procedure. Won't do that again. Lol

Day Nine: Back on the Road! 9:42 wheel-hours; 612 miles. From Jackson, WY to Dickinson, ND. Yellowstone was a hot, wet, filthy mess of construction and ignorant foreign tourists putting diesel in their rentals; taking US 20 eastbound out of the park was almost worth it tho. Pushed into MT and avg.'d five shy of a bill over the 248 miles from Billings to the ND border. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ab86773922.jpg

I hate to be that guy, but I'm about to install the Z1 fog light because the Evo-R one has blown LEDs on mine.

I'd consider swapping.

celiboom 08-07-2019 08:48 PM

Mine is the oem fog from my 2016. I only installed the evor pod

Stared at my car. Didn't park it in the garage and it rained overnight. . . Goof thing I applied Polish, then some caranuba wax on it the day before. It all slid off like it was on ice. Nice.

Ian B 08-08-2019 12:21 AM

Driving it from Austin to Temple to meet a client for interpreting, back to house to change, then go to work at clinic till 11p. Gonna be a long day but, a fun drive.

That was one hell of a cruise :tiphat:
I've really enjoyed the up dates along the way..... Thanks for that !
Sooooo back to work ( reality) on Monday ?

Rusty 08-08-2019 08:52 AM

Thought I was bad. 5,000 miles, 13 states in 3 weeks. Takes forever to go through Kansas. Have nightmares about that state. Oklahoma and the way they have their toll roads. :shakes head:

Crossing the state of Texas is the worst in the lower 48 as much of it there is nothing special to see but desert and then you add in New Mexico and shot me now when traveling east. Traveling the length of California also takes for ever but there is always some real cool places to stop and visit.

I will only transit Kansas at night, and not on the interstate. Get up to 120 between hamlets, slow down to pass through, rinse wash repeat.

I do like how OK mailed me a warning for blowing a toll.

I can sympathize, and I live in Kansas....:icon14:

10 to 12 hours to Denver is the pits, when in that same time span, I can be in Dallas....and almost halfway to Austin... depending on traffic in DFW..... :eekdance:

I'm fine with driving through Kansas. Much better than Oklahoma imo.

My wife absolutely hates driving through Kansas. She bitches about it so much that I have pledged to bury her in Kansas! I've tried to convince her that it will be more convenient for friends and relatives to visit her there as the geographic center of the lower 48 is in Kansas. I've promised to pick a spot near there for her ;)

They don't accept IPass or EZPass. Only their bootleg Texas/Kansas/Oklahoma pass. Think it's called the Dust Bowl Pass.

because all the highways run f-ing north and south.

WTF

I personally avoid anything east of Houston when driving. Mississippi gets a hell no from me. Thankfully I have no reason to travel to THOSE states over there anymore.

Texas and Florida will mail you a toll fee plus fees. LOL Ask me how I know.

Rusty 08-08-2019 04:21 PM

Depending on what part of Colorado we are going to or coming from. We will either take I80 or I70. Most times, it's I70. The one time coming home on I70 in Kansas. Got the bright idea of not going on the toll section of I70 on the eastern side of Kansas. So we let Garmin re route the trip. Spent 3 days taking a round about way around the toll road. :shakes head: All of that to save a few bucks. Spent more on fuel then tolls in the motorhome. :shakes head:

We was going to Colorado one time on I70 with a new Garmin. For us, it's a straight shot on I70. But for some reason, in Indianapolis. The new Garmin routed us north on I65N to RT32W. 2 lane road all the way into Colorado. Talk about Mayberry towns. :rofl2: All the towns we came into had one intersection. On each corner of the intersection was a bank, gas station, mom&pop diner, food store. The road going through each town was called Main St. :rofl2:

I use PhotoBlocker spray on my plates. The stuff works! Used to get tolls in the mail from Colorado. We travel on E470 a lot. Sprayed my plates, and no more tolls in the mail. Been going on for 3 years now.
