I put in Aerocatch pins. Utter PITA to install (about as bad as putting the trans back in alone with the Z on a quikjack) but ended up working well. What was unfortunate was the hood started warping due to engine heat so the gap between hood and bumper is noticeably worse than stock. And I put the OEM rubbers back in |

Got the spacers on…looks way better overall…as much as I want to lower it, it is my daily so that’ll be something to sleep on.

I got back back from work and attempted to install the aerocatch hood pins...I just couldn't do it lol I couldn't get my self to cut through the hood. It fits so well and secure with all three OEM hooks w/o any extra pressure compared to closing the OEM hood. I opened and closed the hood like 20 times double checking everything and it seems solid - no play or wiggle. The other thing I was reading about was applying heat reflective material on the underside of the hood. I know you said you experienced additional warping of the hood. Did you apply this? My only concern is, wouldn't the heat just be reflected back to the engine... |

Installed an ikon OEM style wing today. Amazing quality for $130 factory paint matched. Install was super easy but I can't say it was comfortable drilling holes into a perfectly good car lol. It looks so good, very happy with the decision. My touring is one step away from being the perfect sport/touring without the silly s-mode :)

First Autocross of the season today. 28° F this morning, 7 year old RE11s, and a bumpy AF airstrip course. Let’s just say trying to put any power down out of the corners was a fun time…
ADSI club here in RI was a great time though. They use a mile long course (~90 seconds) with some fast sections pushing well into 3rd gear. So laid back compared to SCCA events. Got ~15 runs over the course of 3hrs with plenty of breaks to talk to other people throughout the day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I installed my brand new OEM black housing headlamps today. The car definitely looks more sporty and aggressive.
You should definitely remove the air filter housings so you can gain access to a plastic clip that is located at the inner corner of each housing. The clip goes around a wiring harness and guides them through this area of the car. If you do not remove this clip or just break it off if you decide to just do that you cannot remove the headlights even with the four bolts removed that bolt it in place and with the harness that controls the housing itself. My neighbor pointed out to me that black housing headlamps even go along with my all black interior that 2014 model year Solid Red 370's only came with. |

Ever since I lowered my Z on Swift springs, I've been trying to figure out how to adjust the camber and all that good stuff. As usual, this forum educated me on what I needed to do. Originally I was just going to install the rear camber arms because I didn't think the front really needed much, but then I figured I might as well just gets some FUCAs for the front so when I align the car I can just be done with it. I ended up getting some SPC rear camber arms, but after talking to my friend who has SPL everything on his 300ZX and reading a lot more into the whole SPL vs SPC, I've decided to get the whole SPL camber kit. I found a guy who bought it for his G37 but never installed it and is selling his car...so I got a pretty good deal. Still, it was expensive AF compared to the SPC counterparts. I don't track my car and it's no longer my daily, but I just wanted to do it right. I honestly think it's overkill, but everyone talking about the SPCs snapping was enough for me to run the other way lol. Plus, the SPLs are made in the USA.
All that being said...my rear SPC camber arms are for sale on here! |

I just buy a sheet of 2 inch pink styrofoam insulation and cut it in 4 pieces... I park on that. Works for me.

I've been busy the last week or so:
First, I installed new Michelin PS4s, 305/30 in the rear and 265/35 in the front. I went ahead and purchased the R7 along with a Blendmount. Install took less than a half-hour. This thing has saved my bacon a few times. https://i.imgur.com/UYv4RaDl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/I35ptcbl.jpg My 21-year old son, who still enjoys spending time with his old man, helped me install my door door handle covers and hood. For additional safety, we went ahead and installed a set of Quik-Latch QL-38-LP/BP Lockable hood pins. https://i.imgur.com/eWnvMCZl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3BtVhSHl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Iw1hXOwl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/A7PIiAZl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OjKphwLl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2LEvoSHl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZPVZr2yl.jpg |
My brother had the same z (stock). One of the best gen/combo IMO. Love the mods and happy to hear your kid helped you with them!
BTW...what's the rj11/45 connection for on the radar? |

Agreed! The two tone V1 nismos are my favorite Z. I’d love to upgrade to one of those one day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Yeah, I wish he still had his so we could both have nismos :driving: the only thing I thought it was lacking were the recaros. The lack of tech package could easily be fixed with an aftermarket unit, and the chrome headlights have several options to black out.

Geez....I think I have to do the door handle cover on the wife's car now. Which vendor did you buy the handle cover from?
Also, great if you would comment on the fitment. I've heard many complaints CF handle covers being a little off on sizes, and some custom touches needed. It's been a deterrent for me. Quote:

How’s the quality on the Ortiz pillar pods? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Installed a new driver side door lock actuator today. For some lovely reason the inner door panel was riveted to the window track assembly unlike the other side which I have done. So, I just took off the two lower left hand bolts and bent the dog sh1t out of it in order to gain access to the cable that goes to the door handle and the wiring harness that connects to the door lock actuator.
It sure was fun to snake the old one out and to snake the new one in. I broke the rear window glass sash so I'll be buying a new one from Nissan soon and replacing that since I'm the biggest anal bead on the string. |

In the next couple of weekends I'll be installing a new rear main seal, pilot bushing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and csc. Should be fun times doing the job on jack stands. All OEM parts will be used.

Last week I started getting some shop quotes to install my aftermarket parts and do some maintenance work on my Z. I have been using Hill's Garage (they are great), but they don't have an alignment system, so I've been trying to find a shop that has one and can do all the work while the car is there rather than bouncing around multiple shops. I was surprised to see how much the quotes varied (installing the rear diff bushings is expensive af)! Today I decided to go with Kinetic Autoworks. Dave was very communicative, the shop is familiar with Zs/Gs so he helped walk me thru some things, and their quote was reasonably priced. Some shops just don't pick up, or they get back to you days later. I'm sure they're busy, idk.
I have the following things to be done: CBE, FUCAs, rear camber arms and toe bolts, poly rear diff bushings, clutch fluid and diff fluid flush, and alignment. Lastly, I'll need to go back to Hill's for an EcuTek tune, and I'll finally be done my project (I did some other things prior)! I'll be sure to update back on here once everything is done with a list of all the modifications. Hopefully I have a positive experience with this new shop. People seem to laugh when I say I'm about to complete my project lol. I get what they're saying, but I had to draw the line somewhere and actually have other responsibilities! I definitely learned a lot more about my car though (and made some mistakes along the way) which was great. |

Installed some used knee pads that were less scratched than the ones i had, a new center console with a working lid, and a used rear cargo cover! I love those OEM parts!

Developed a new 'oem look' phone mount (see the post in interior/exterior sub) and got my parts in to make my k&n sri into a true cai. Supposed to be a real nice weekend so I'll have some fun figuring that out.
|
General maintenance day...
New shoes being mounted, balanced and aligned. Clutch fluid flush. K&M air filters cleaned and oiled. Oil cooler flushed and oil change. Maybe brake pads, waiting on the inspection.
Just rolled over 34,000 miles, is there anything else I should look for or do? |

Also, I decided not to go with Kinetic Autoworks. I looked a little more into their reviews and found some really suspicious things. I'll just stick with Hills and try to find an alignment shop after everything is complete. Finding a good shop, that's relatively close, is hard! |
@MZ DAIZY
@SLOPOS I didn't see yalls post until after I posted my post above. I'm at 50k miles and have never changed my diff fluid...oops Hopefully everything is ok lol |
Probably fine if you haven't had any bad noises or heat issues. I'm guilty of also ignoring time frames for fluid changes and usually would go just based on miles, but if you think about it, these oils don't last forever once you heat them up the first time and even if you're not driving, they're breaking down just sitting there. I've seen some horror stories/videos of people that ignore oil change intervals because they don't drive their car much and the way it gunks up the engine is scary.
