:iagree: Definitely. My wing is a super low-drag design, and I still can feel the difference with it set at 0 AoA |

I remember adjusting mine at the track just to see how different angles affect the handling. Even the slightest angle was too much. I lost 2mph on the back straight at MSR-H lol.
I did inquire about Aeromotions' dynamic upgrade so i can add DRS (mainly for a flex if im honest I'll just use it on the highway to troll). $2500! |

A few months back I experienced a rotator cuff injury. Been on the mend since then. Certain movements are really painful, one of them being lifting a wheel and sliding it onto the studs. Even with light 3-piece wheels, the wheel+tire weighs 45-50 lbs. I was looking for some kind of aid to help me raise a wheel and hold it while I clocked it to line up the studs. At first I tried a floor jack but clocking the wheel was difficult. I decided to try a wheel dolly as it could perform both the lifting function and allow easy clocking of the wheel face to facilitate mounting. I couldn't be happier with the results and would recommend this to anyone in a similar situation. The dolly was about $125 and I picked up some rollerblade-type wheels for $25 because the original ones were crap. I had to build a plywood platform to add height when the car is way up on jack stands but, at lower levels, the dolly is all that is needed.

Tire Rack had an $80 rebate for purchasing in-stock winter tires so I went ahead and purchased some VREDESTEIN WINTRAC PROs I got them in base 18 inch wheel sizes and will be putting them on base wheels I purchased. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Z handles this winter!

I drove my 2012 daily, even in the snow. I did tell the folks at work that if we got more than 3" of snow, I wasn't coming into work. Too many idiots that don't know how to drive...:shakes head: |

Thanks for reminding me, I need to swap my conti extremes for the michelin AS4 on my subaru (at a minimum). The AWD was rendered useless this winter.

I finally found the source of the f-ing rattle underneath my car: Loose secondary O2 sensor.
While I had the car in the air, I washed the insides of my wheels and installed some new center caps. (i washed the rest of the car too). I'm hoping to get the ethanol sensor later this month and install that. The tune needs to be touched up. I also need to grease my sway bars. |

I woke up.
I went downtown to look for a job. I hung out in front of the drugstore. |
Started work on replacing a blown oil gallery gasket, got it all the way back to the point where i need to set timing and ran out of time to do it, rest of it goes back together this weekend :)

What did I do to my Z today...
I just back into a 370Z after selling my Silver 2011 a couple of years back.
Bought a Pearl White one for more than I should have but, the best bang for buck on the market. I had to sell my previous Z for cash to pay bills. Now I am in better shape and it looks like the new design in not my cup of tea. So, I figured what is $3K more to get just the right Z. This is what I did today: Clay bared it, Cermic coated it, checked oil, air filter, bought chrome license plate frames. Found and installed my old 2011 rear cargo mat. Sanded down front splitter from previous owner letting it drag on driveways too much and took a few pictures for friends. After all that I sat back and had a drink toasting to the fact my beauty is back in a brighter color... Pearl White. Photos coming. :eekdance: |
Installed Whiteline diff bushings. Had I known they would be seized in place and take many hours just to remove, I would've brought it to a shop.
|
Went for a drive and picked up groceries. I finally have the Flex Fuel kit (with the fuel line and sensor) on the way. I'm going to have a shop install that because I don't really want to mess with fuel lines in my garage, and it's maximum 1hr labor. I can easily do the wiring myself. It will be nice to know exactly what quality of E85 I'm running lol.
|
Oil change, grease the sway bar bushings, rotated the tires side to side, check the torque on the rear axle nuts on the Z. Much needed to be done. Way over on my miles.
Also washed the truck for the first time this year. Took a pressure washer to the cap, and watched big pieces of clear coat get peeled off. :rofl2: Going to wax it tomorrow. |
Nice to see everyone is enjoying there cars. I gave my car a pep talk so as to get him ready for the Sunday cruise.
Think I will drive to Monterey or Carmel.... Heck both.... If you see a White 370Z with a guy grining ear to ear.... That be me tomorrow.... |
Wrapped my B pillar covers with some Vivid matte carbon wrap i had laying around (was going to use it on the interior, but wrapping is harder than it looks)
Up close you can tell I didn't cut it completely perfect but looks ok from afar. Going to be grabbing seibon real carbon replacements at some point anyway. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yijrdtefjs...8.39.jpg?raw=1 |
Set timing on the Z after replacing the oil gallery gaskets and discovered a nasty surprise that I'm not sure how it got there, but there's a small crack in the rear timing chain cover on one of the bolt holes directly above the thermostat housing. Did the best i could for now to prevent the crank from spreading until i can get it taken care of, she's back up and running, but it made it a bittersweet ending to the weekend

Installed my custom "nismo" lenses on my sequential side marker lights

Now that is way too cool!!!

I agree with Chowtoo, very cool!

I purchased the car two weeks ago, 1-owner w/ 17,000 miles. I have completed the following projects so far:
- Window tint - Morimoto XB Headlights - Morimoto XB Tail Lights - Swift Spec-R Springs - SPL Titanium Traction Links - SPC Camber Arms - Z1 15mm spacers all around - Z1 Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake - GT-R Start with Red Start Button Surround - GT-R Clear Map Lights - Morimoto LED License Plate Lights - Diode Dynamic LEDs all around - AAM Competition Resonated Short Tails - A few other misc. things I'm waiting on the AAM HFC's to arrive. https://i.imgur.com/hgKtWa6l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0OoPtkVl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/noGpHeNl.jpg |
Ordered the Z1 fuel port and a nice mini fuel pressure gauge as a "while we're here" type of add-on.

I still need to get my software re-flashed so it can pass. For now, I just make extra sure not to speed when I drive the car. Once I get the Ethanol sensor wired in, i think I'll just schedule time with my tuner to dyno it and do the software changes all at once. |
Winding Road was backed up for the next week, so I went ahead and did all the work myself. The only problem I had was with the retaining clip that holds the fuel line against the chassis. I got frustrated and just used the dremel on it. Got the new sensor, fuel port, and gauge all installed and wired up to the haltech. Now i have verification that the local station with E85 sucks. I'm reading 51% ethanol -_-
A bonus is that the GM fuel sensor also has a temperature output. So I connected that as well. https://imgur.com/ymiYT7Mh.jpg https://imgur.com/2fiSwWmh.jpg |
Replaced a coolant line for the passenger side throttle body, it had a good life at just a hair over 218,000 miles lol

I did some homework reading through the BCM portion of the FSM and figured out where I need to tap lines for the signal indicators and high beam alert for the Haltech. It looks like i can just use an add-a-fuse for the high beam signal, and I can use the direct lines going into the BCM for the Turn signals. The fuel gauge line is connected to the existing instrument cluster so I will have to tap that separately. As far as mounting/relocating the standard dash, I still have to figure that out, but I'm willing to do a radio delete if it gives me extra room.
