The biggest problem with them is they are old. I bought them from Hotrodz a number of years ago. Maybe 3 now? And I'm pretty sure they were already several years old. I'm actually hesitant to take them out and toast the rest of the tread due to their age. Rather they not fail catastrophically on me - I've had tires delaminate on the Z before.

Don't get too crazy with old tires. About 10 seconds before this, I said, "I think I need new tires." (hydroplaned)

Oh forgot to mention I got tuned last Thursday. I chose the best day ever, it was hella humid and like 90 degrees.

Still made 315/256 which is decent but tuner is cool, so letting me go back in the fall/winter for a retune for free when it’s cooler.

I got the Uprev tune with arc license, so I have the hooligan pops n bangs, and flames, looks and sounds pretty cool, but only use it for videos. I’m responsible with it I promise lol.

Haven’t tried launch control or burnout yet, but will at some point…

I ordered new tires yesterday. This morning I was driving back from San Marcos and found myself in a 360 on IH-35 at about 55 mph when both RH wheels caught some standing water. Thankfully there was no one around me and no impact - went from the middle lane and recovered in the right lane. First time that's happened on a public road

Yup. The recovery was a little messy but not horrible.

For the Nismo rims I drive on the street, I got some Continental Extreme Contact Sport 255/35/19 and 305/30/19.

Maybe with some more experience that could have been fun. Instead I pulled over to regain my composure and change my shorts :ugh:

Replaced the coupler in my heater hose. I was warned it would likely break upon removal. It broke in half and the pieces left in each tube disintegrated as I tried to remove them

Neither is my fiancee... She kept trying to stomp a hole in the floorboard on the way to Madwi's. :icon14:

You can't blame her. She just wasn't used to all that extra power coming from the hood vents and oil cooler :icon17:

Very similar to what happened to me. I was probably running 65 or more. During rush hour with all kinds of cars around me. 360 with a semi truck beside me, then went over an embankment and ended up where the picture shows.
I was standing a good distance from the road when I took that picture.
Thankfully, I didn't do a massive amount of damage. Enough, but nothing like it could have been. Needed to get a new pair of grundies!

Never did see a picture. Tried the direct link from your post. Then tried looking up the photo album. Perhaps it is set to private? Because I couldn't find any albums in your profile page.

Glad you weren't hurt and your Z only suffered minor injuries. Sheet metal is cheap compared to skin and bones!

Thanks. I was really quite shocked how little damage was done. Basically front bumper and undertray. Most of the damage was done at the bottom of the incline.
Wild ride on wet grass.

I heard from Kevin at Fast Intentions. He believes my turbos are getting ready to ship from Xona. They'll need to inspect and clock them then they'll get sent over to Seb. :happydance:

More progress on the stereo…. Everything is wired in……..will test tomorrow… assuming all goes well will clean up all the wiring and finish her up this weekend.

JARblue 08-20-2021 07:19 PM

New tires on the Z. Fuel starve worse than ever :rofl2:

abm89 08-20-2021 10:09 PM

Dude, you gotta fix that. I think I've only fuel starved once, and that was when I put the wing on and tried to do T2 Counter-clockwise at MSR-H full tilt.

Zingston 08-21-2021 05:48 PM

No Jeep parts this weekend... got new tires for the Z.

New set of Carbotech XP8 brake pads installed. What should have been a 45 min job turned into a front caliper rebuild because I let one of the old sets of pads wear down to the backing plate :ugh: As a result a couple of the boots were torn. Had to resurface the back face of the rotor and went ahead and did new seals and bleeder valves. As a side note, I found it was plenty easy to do the rebuild without taking the caliper halves apart and it was easier to put the boot on the piston first and then tuck the boot and ring into the gap around the piston (as opposed to installing the boot and ring into the caliper and then trying to slide the piston down through the boot).

For anyone interested, here's an example of what NOT to do with your brakes :twocents:

Got the Z1 long tube intake installed today. It was missing a part on each side but, thankfully, the shop had some tubing hose, and clamps, they could use.

Nice! That looks like my intakes with the gold wrap!

It’s only noon and I didn’t do anything with my Z yet, but I did cancel my tune I had scheduled for Saturday. No point in doing it since I’ll be looking to get into the new Z. I will be taking her out later for a full detail and roam around town

Finished the stereo install on a 2016 370Z nismo with Navi/ kept the factory head unit and replaced the tweeters/ front door speakers / rear speakers and amp…. Was much easier that i thought it would be…. After the fact of researching/splicing/testing the wrong wires…..ill save y’all from 17 pages of details but it all worked out in the end.

After my research I purchased the following:
1. Front speakers & tweeters: Hertz DSK 130.3 - Dieci Series 5-1/4" component speaker system
2. Rear speakers: Hertz DCX 87.3 - Dieci Series 3-1/2" 2-way car speakers
3. Subwoofer Box - I was really looking for a JL stealth box but could not find one…. So went with a 2X10” box from conceptenclosures.com - specifically built for our 370z’s
4. Amplifier - JL Audio RD900/5 - 5-channel car amplifier — 75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
5. Alpine W10S4 - BassLine Series 10" 4-ohm subwoofer (based the subwoofer decision on the size of the enclosure)

At the end of the day all is working as expected and I’m really happy with the outcome. Do want to get it tuned but sounds good (IMO) base on the tuning suggestions in the manual.

the attached diagram is what will be needed to need to splice into the harness coming from the factory head unit
Basically pins 1&9 and 2&10…

Well, I tried to install the base tune, from Specialty Z, last night and got an error. Looks like there might already be an UpRev tune on the car so I've reached out to a local shop that uses UpRev to see if they can flash it back to stock so I can install the ECUTek Tune. Hopefully they're able to!
