The bolt IS $1.39, it's just that they want to charge $68.61 to ship! :rofl2:

Pretty much. But honestly meh. BOV and wastegates ship Monday and I'm deadlined until I fix the mount so.. I'll prob just buy that bolt, refurb the old mounts and sell them here for 100 bucks

Today I took my first "fun" drive in the "new" car. It was raining, and I haven't driven a RWD car in a bit, so I took it pretty easy. It was sublime. I, also, decided to take a look to see what kind of modifications it has. Looks like I've got some Fast Intentions gear: exhaust with 18" resonators, resonated high-flow cats, and and FI start/stop button, There's also a K&N intake (Blackhawk, I think), Nismo S-Tune spoiler (or copy), Password JDM shift knob and what seems to be 35% tint. I tried to take a picture of the shocks and they look stock.

I wasn't sure what I thought of the spoiler in pictures but it's really grown on me in person. It doesn't look nearly as big as I thought it would. The one thing that I'm not sure of is the volume of the exhaust. I was kind of hoping it was unresonated and I could add the 18" resonators to calm it down a bit but now it looks like I'd have to switch back to stock cats. I'm going to live with it for a bit and see if I can get used to it. I guess it keeps me from doing anything too crazy as it alerts any law enforcement in earshot that I'm there...lol.

Edit: added pictures. The car is very dirty as the guy I bought it from lived on a dirt road. It's raining for the next several days and the rain today knocked some of the dirt off...lol.

Took the nismos out trying to get a feel for the differences

So i bought the 370z nismo back in October and really didn't get a chance to rip it up. (I live in new england, the 350z nismo goes to hibernation at this time)

Any advice on the following:

1) The 370z is hard to heal toe. The throttle is not responsive at all. Heal toe on the 350z is a breeze. Never really have an issue. But wow, with the 370z, i have to pump the throttle to the floor momentarily to get the revs up before down shifting.

Q) Option in tuning to adjust this?

2) Handling on the highway is my other concern. I took it to nissan to get aligned and they made some adjustments. But the highways here are not completely flat. (i'm assuming else where as well) To move rain water to the sides, the highway is at its highest point in the center lane and lowest on the far lanes

Q) While switching lanes or driving in the middle lane, do others feel hard pulls in the steering wheel? My 350z nismo still has the factory nismo suspension, factory alignment specs and i usually do not feel these pulls. There is some as the the suspension is adjusting to the lane shift, but the 370z is a bit more extreme.

3) the 370z has better throttle response and low end torque than my 350z with a supercharger w/ A-A kit. I read that the 350z was supposed to be more responsive in the low end. This could be the 350z tune... but I am very impressed with the 3-6K power band on the 370. After 6k... a dud. Needs some FI to take over :-)

Q) Anyone else here go from a 350z -> 370z and thought the same?

Looking forward to the comments

Rusty 03-12-2021 11:26 PM

A tune will help out with the gas pedal response.

You know what your alignment spec's are?

Tires make a big difference in handling of the 370.

SouthArk370Z 03-13-2021 12:10 AM

The stock tune has some delay built into the throttle response. A good tune will get rid of a lot of the delay (plus provide other benefits).

Wide tires + short wheelbase + light vehicle = tramlining. Your alignment can make a big difference; quite a few threads on this site about what specs work best for some people.

Alignment specs, no clue. Factory? Haha. I asked for the alignment results and they "lost the print out"

Good call on the tires though. The fronts are still the originals. 2014 with only 14k miles. Have about 5/32nds. But the rear tires were replaced by Carvana and are "General G-Max". I have never heard of these before. I was just going to burn them out on a session and replace them.

I still have the carvana warranty(i purchased an extended one as well).. I'll check out another NIssan dealership and see what they say with alignment. The feeling i have is the camber is off.

NissanTracker 03-13-2021 12:16 AM

Tramlining... holy cow, they have a word for this. Thanks! Never knew that real term for this. I am sure it's the alignment. I'm going to have to do a bit more research.

Is there a difference in the alignment requirements from the Nismo versus other models?

You are welcome.

I have no idea what the specs are for any of the variants. Try searching for:
tramlining site:the370z.com
alignment site:the370z.com
etc
at your favorite search engine. The FSM (link in my sig) will have factory specs.

NissanTracker 03-13-2021 01:07 AM

Appreciate the info. I'll do some more research. Loving the 370 so far.

In any case, this weekend "Mods" are

1) Finally found clear protective film that is wide enough to do the entire engine bonnet. Found it on amazon. Grabbed enough to do the fenders as well and it arrived today

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2) Black vinyl wrapping the top.

3) Over the winter, I put together a rear backup and front lip camera setup. It's the OEM style rear view mirror backup camera with OE factory license plate camera mount for the rear. The unique part of this kit is that I found a source for OEM style push switches for the cup holder panel where there are blanks on the nismo edition. I'm wiring up a front camera the will be pointing downward to the front lip.

Idea is to prevent curbing the front lip. This happened to me on my 350z nismo and I was pissed. I can now Just use the push switch to turn the front camera on and park without issues. Bench tested and it looking pretty good.

4) AAM resonated Ti short tails that need to get on.

The Z doesn't like difference make tires on it. Some say it feel evil. When you get tires on it. Get the same tires front and rear.

If they lost your alignment sheet. Good chances that they didn't do an alignment.

One of the best mods you can do. Get the SPL upper control arms. They are adjustable for both camber and caster. You can make adjustments without removing from the car. Plus they hold the adjustment. The only down side is that they are pricy.

If the toe is off on alignment. It can make the Z feel real nervous to dangerous. If it's toed out too much. You can get into a condition called "snap oversteer". That's when the rear steps out with no warning in a corner.

JARblue 03-13-2021 07:47 AM

Always make sure to get a print out of your alignment. One time they told me the printer was down. I made them put it back and show me on the computer readout. I now make sure beforehand that they know what my expectations are; they must provide me a printout of the resulting specs or I will take a photo of the computer if the printer is down.

Funny story. I took a picture of the mileage before going in. Had 60 miles added. When I confronted the Nissan service tech, told me that he had to drive it to feel the alignment issues.

And to add to it, I did a paint correction and ceramic coating. Told them "Hey, this just went for a paint correction and ceramic coating... be careful". It comes back with dirty water streaks. Someone hand washed it with dirty water and marred up the ceramic coating. I freaked out at the guy at this point. His response is "all our cars that get service get hand washed". Couldn't believe it. Saw the bucket of nasty water and over used cloths. WTF ! Hand Washed? HAND WASH!!!! So there it is, a bucket filled with old nasty Rouge and Maxima sweat... all over my new Z.

In other words, this dealership is F'n dead to me. (BTW... i never go to the dealership. I have a full lift at home. Just wanted to use the Carvana warranty to get the alignment and multi-point inspected)

Dealerships in this area just suuuuck. Just 3 days ago, My old man brought is c6 Vette in for a check engine light problem. We needed a GM tool. Service tech says "Looks like you need new brakes, and they a pricey too". We just replaced them before the winter. Haha. Just for ***** and giggles, we followed him to the end. $1,200 for front rotors and pads. Then I called him out on it. "Dude, we just replaced these".. Apparently got "mixed up" on vettes. No other vette in the service center though.

For heel-toe, get a tune and the RJM clutch pedal. I too had a 350Z immediately prior to my 370Z and had a hell of a time shifting properly with the 370 until I had the RJM pedal and had Seb (tuner) push my idle RPMs up by 50 so I didnt feel like the Z was about to stall when I went into first.

When I was NA I had a emissions test issue and ended up going back to the stock map , and holy **** is there a difference between a tune and OEM. The Z felt like driving a commuter car on OEM map, massive throttle lag, etc.

As for what I've now learned is "tramlining." Damn! I've had the same issue and thought something was seriously busted/my fat azz was causing alignment issues. Thanks for helping air that issue.

How is that funny? :icon14: You can't let them do that shìt to your car. By letting them get away with it, you're just encouraging them to continue doing it to other customers. I would be speaking with the GM about the unnecessary miles. Shouldn't need more than 1-2 miles to figure out an alignment issue if any at all - just put it on the rack and it will tell you all you need to know. I take a photo and tell them if it needs more than driving around the dealer lot (1/4-1/2 mile tops) then they need to call me for authorization to put miles on it with a good explanation why.

I'd also be making them pay for a new ceramic coat by a competent detailer if necessary. Never let a dealer detail your car - I don't even let them put the stupid plastic number on top of the roof much less wipe it down with dirty rags.

I actually did the paint correction and ceramic coating. Took me an entire weekend.

Do be honest, I made my complaint with them. Bitched and looked like that typical A-hole customer. How far can I really take it before the anxiety isn't worth it?

I stopped going to shops around here because they all suck. I have never once had a good experience. A clutch job gone bad, F'ed up wheels from mounting in every Z i've owned, techs scratching the cars, joy rides, forgot to put oil in (luckily I always check), paying $$$ to troubleshoot a simple problem. ****, I had one shop snap the control arm bolt to the frame and blamed it on the new brake job i did. I tracked the damn thing a few times until I couldn't stand the knocking noise. Wasn't until I got the lift and checked it out for myself. I gave them a little wiggle room again and this is just a reminder.

I'm still searching for 15+ recaro seats. Some dude on Ebay is selling a set for 7K! I'd rather get a Fast Intentions TT kit for that price.

Anyone have a set they are selling?

Got my admin intakes today, and ordered some PPE LTH too. Good day. They’re in stock too, so in a few weeks here, the Z is gonna transform!! I couldn’t justify switching from non resonated to resonated TPs...might as well go LTH right...

Yea. Every place I called said it would be best to mount them and the paint so they can blend the surrounding areas if needed. Gonna leave the 2 small vents and main panel leading towards to door unpainted. It's carbon kevlar. Have to show it off. Haha.

Getting ready to complete 60k maintenance and catch up on part installs:

- Z1 oil cooler
- oil change with Motul Eco-nergy 5w-30
- New Nismo magnetic oil drain plug
- Brake fluid flush with Motul 5.1
- Torque Solutions transmission mount
- Adjust Motordyne CBE and address any exhaust leaks
- New O2 downstream sensors
- New spark plugs
- Reach out to Seb for updated tune
- Install Z1 poly differential bushings

Should make for a fun weekend of wrenching!
