I've had 2 RX-8's, and 2 Rx-7's, you have to pre-mix on the rotary engines. They like dirty gas, it actually drastically helps the engine. Ultra-clean gas will kill a rotary engine.

I'm about 99.99999999999% positive you should not do that to a non-rotary engine.
