Default Help with A/C controls

I need some help with how the air conditioner functions. I had the controller assembly replaced on my 2011 touring Z because it shorted out due to a defective rear camera mirror. The A/C is not working the same, but I want to be sure before I go back to the dealership again.

For example if it is 70 degrees outside, the temperature knob is set to 60 degrees and the two outside knobs are set to "auto" then the A/C compressor (center orange light on left knob) should come on automatically with me having to press the knob, correct?

Thanks

not sure what your dealer replaced as far as electronics, but as far as the A/C coming on automatically, the answer is yes the AC light should come on when you turn the AC knob to auto which is what it passes anyway when you turn that knob.

The A/C on this car turns on if the wind stops blowing. Try turning on defrost - does the A/C turn on?

Yes, the compressor turns on when the knob is turned to defrost. Problem is the compressor (orange light in center of knob) used to work automatically, turn one when A/C needed and turn off when not needed. Now it has to used manually. I just wanted to make sure it used to be automatic and now manual before I go back for another service trip.

Thanks

Yes.

On my two-month-old 2011, whenever I twist the fan speed dial to AUTO, the A/C light always comes on automatically. It doesn't seem to matter what the exterior temperature is (I've experienced 15F-70F so far) or where I've set the desired interior temp (usually around 70), the A/C light illuminates. If I wanted AUTO with no A/C, I'd have to manually tap the A/C button to disable it.

AFAIK, this is the normal & expected behavior. The Z is my first Nissan, but other cars I've owned with fully-automatic climate control systems (a Saab, couple of Audis, and a Subaru) have behaved this same way. When you command 'Auto', the car uses A/C unless you manually override it; for cooling in the summer, and for drying & anti-fogging in the winter.

I'm having a problem with my A/C also. All I did was install a shift knob and next thing I knew..... my A/C stops working. It won't turn on at all. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Make sure the harness didn't come loose. You can feel it if you reach underneath. I had this happen when the dealer replaced my stereo. Idiots forgot to connect it.

I checked the harness. It's connected just fine. The hazard lights work but not the Eshift button. Which is weird because they both connect to the wire harness.

Huh? There's a harness behind the AC controls. Not the ones connected to the hazard. Do you mean the SyncroRev? It might be a short or a blown fuse

How to take control knobs off of a/c?
Do they just pull straight off?
