And you should buy the Z simply because Mitsus break like it's their job.

This too I forgot to mention, they break more often hence why folks get an WRX STI instead.

I had this same debate...A few reasons I went with the Z
1. Nissan wins the reliability edge, regardless of our common issues, read around the net, horsepower is no fun when your car is falling apart...IMO 2. Coupes just scream sports car, and the Z is more rare. 3. Feels more like a sports car IMO 4. Interior quality and design I give the edge to the Z 5. RWD is more fun to goof off with, I am not a racer, its an enthusiast car. 6. I bought mine used and for under 40k I will have a fully modded 500 whp car that will take care of 90% of other street cars. I still like the EVO, but its not all about the HP for me, which made the Z my decision.

My opinion is looks wise, 370,
driving wise, do you like to your car? or do you like the car to drive for you? I personally like to drive my cars, hence why i chose the 370 over the EVO |

Gtm kits run from around 6.5k and up, youll need some supporting mods as well...what gets most people is labor, I work at a shop and I am quite handy, so I do all my own work. If you can do the install yourself with supporting mods(gauges oil cooler etc) You can get it done under the 10k mark assuming you buy a gtm kit- someone is actually selling a used one on the forums for 2k which is almost unbelievable, but hey that will drive the cost down! This is why the evo is so much more suited for hp junkies.
My plan is SC kit , so looking right around 500 whp give or take depending on the tuner and high 300's for tq, turbos are a different animal, will get you that tq into the 400s like snap! This car is not cheap to mod, but rewarding IMO, I bought my Z used for 26k with 10k miles, so buying new will drive your cost much higher than mine. check out these links: https://www.gtmotorsports.com/search...keep_https=yes https://www.gtmotorsports.com/produc...cat=258&page=1 Forced Induction - Nissan 370Z Forum

Quick two cents:
I have a Nismo and my ex-gf had an Evo, which I drove regularly. It was a fun car - it handled great, it was REALLY quick, and it looked awesome. That said, the interior was that of the cheapest imaginable econobox. It was so horrible for a car that expensive. Not that the Nismo is ultralux, but the Evo is far worse. Also, the lack of a sixth gear (on the manual GSR) made it a terrible car for driving on the freeway. Even going 60-70, the thing was buzzing at a moderately high RPM; it was thus twitchy and the noise was annoying for long trips. The AWD is nice if you live somewhere with inclement weather, but do you really want to take your $40k car out in the snow with other people sliding around anyway? Those are the things I'd consider if weighing the Evo vs. the Nismo. The Nismo feels a lot more like an upscale sports car while the Evo feels like what it is - a bottom of the line economy sedan with upgraded drivetrain and suspension. |

have you even sat in an EVO? dear god its a baren wasteland, not to mention everything looks AND feels like its about to break. Funny thing about that....... IT WILL. the evo is renown for being an unreliable maintenance headache, especially when you start pissing around with aftermarket stuff. Its about in the same line as an RX8. look forward to replacing things you should never need to replace before 100k miles. personally? STI. same price, better quality. might not be as fast, but it will last 10X longer, and it even looks better. And you get this thing called an INTERIOR!!! :O with.... USEFUL THINGS!!!! :O also, the STI wont sound like a turd. EVO has a worse engine noise than a stock 370Z lol..... and thats bad.
If your 12 - EVO If you have a brain but also no need for a USEFUL car - 370Z then after you buy the Z, buy an STI anyway for winter :P Last edited by chii370; 11-04-2013 at 04:55 PM. |

Evo vs. Nismo. As everyone has already stated the Nismo without a question and hands down.
If you are thinking about the Evo, then why not go with the STI? I would take the STI over the EVO, but still go with the Nismo since it is a two door sports car. You will have less headaches/problems with the Nismo than the Evo or STI.

Agreed with everything but the bit about having more problems with a STi. I never had a single issue with mine over 75k miles, and it was modded from 5k miles on. The next owner promptly blew it up, but it never gave me any issues.

So my advice is if you sit in a Z and don't feel something stirring then you will wind up in an EVO, WRX, or BRZ (help your soul ![]() Good luck.
