I've been going back and forth on the home alignment situation. I've never tried my hand at it and am worried I'd screw it up. I also don't know how much I'll be out on the track this year (schedule dependent). Is the string setup pretty easy to store? I have space for my car, my bike, and my wife's car, but storage is quickly becoming an issue.

tiny. You need 2 pieces of conduit, some jack stands. Some platforms to allow wheel movement/leveling of the car.
there' are fancier versions that hang off the car but those are pretty easy to store as well.
the rest of the tools are a angle measuring tool, a straight edge. and a ruler.

simple setup

Better setup:

corner weight would be harder at home.
i was looking at these

if you wanted corner scales on the cheap you could get some of these maybe

I use a few things from longacre and they work very well.
AS for slip plates, a couple pieces of plexiglass with grease between em works great lol. better than shelling out $700 at least.

there's also this quicktrick product that combines the toe plates and the digital gauge/wheel attachment into a single product
