Advance Auto Parts acquired the DieHard brand for $200 million from Transformco in 2019. Johnson Controls makes the batteries.

Susan is grabbing a few bottles of wine tonight. Rough day of work supposedly. If anyone wants some wicked good wines made on site from the Finger Lakes region of NY, please try out this place. It's our favorite. We usually go their for our anniversary every year. The Cazenovia blush is amazing if you like sweet things and the frontenac gris is really good chilled.

Afternoon everyone! Taking a trip to Waco today to spend a few nights with the roommates and make sure everything from my old lease is moved over to my new lease. Was going to take the family car and not put miles on the Z...but I can't help it.

1.5 hours of highway seems pretty cathartic right about now

Fried clam dinner tonight. I really need to find a place that does a great Smelt dinner. Those are my downfall, I love them.

Im assuming they're tasty. Salty like sardines, mild like catfish? I've never eaten...

They are really small and very mild, not salty at all. Usually use a pair of scissors to cut off head and then use pinky finger to rip guts out. Dip in batter and toss in the fryer.

My dad and uncle would go out smelt dipping with nets. They would come home with 55 gallon drums filled. Hours and hours and hours of cleaning the bastards.

Sounds a bit like how we'd go scalloping... out on the boat snorkeling over the grass flats with a small hand net and mesh bag. Scooping them up all day long as the try to backward clam swim. But then you have to crack n clean them. Not fun. But once they're in a pan later that evening swimmimg in chopped garlic and butter, all's forgotten and forgiven, and nothing else is tastier!

Hmmmmm... i gotta try these smelt!

Smelt dipping is pretty easy. dip net into water, scoop up net full of fish, toss in 55 gallon drum. Rinse, repeat until that barrel is full. The creeks and small rivers would be chocked full when they are running.

If you see them on a menu, try them out, you wont be disappointed. I love scallops, pan seared with butter and garlic, oh yeah, one of life's great little pleasures.
