Well seeing as you don't have emissions inspections down there in Florida...I/H/E will give you solid gains. Fast Intentions is doing a great group buy on their brand new headers. Intakes, Stillen's are almost the defacto standard...and as far as a good CBE, thats all in your ear in the end. Berk, Stillen, and Fast Intentions are the popular ones around here if you haven't figured that out already.

Welcome out of lurking status!

Thanks MB and Fusz, I'm glad to be out of lurking mode! I think that I have pretty much decided on FI parts for the exhaust end of things. What are CBE's? Sorry I haven't been around the scene for some time... Thanks again!

Well, I actually bastardized I/H/E - usually it means Intakes/Heads/Exhaust (with headers being part of the exhaust of course), but in this occasion I meant Intake/Headers/Exhaust. Just throwing that out there.

CBE = Cat Back Exhaust.

Ah, gotcha, yes, I went to FI's website and drooled over the CBE's and HFC's and other 3 letter acronyms. *Sigh* the other thing is finding a place to put it all on for me... I don't trust myself with the headers. I saw someones post that had a write-up, that about scared the crap out of me...

I was leaning towards the G3 CAI as one of my first mods. She only has 150 miles on her as of now and will probably do it when I do my first oil change.

Be prepared to take your front bumper off.

Nothing solves being scared of modding more than just jumping in and doing it . Assuming you have the proper tools of course.

Haha, very true. I'll have to do a search in the DIY section. I guess I'll have to buy more tools if I don't have the right ones!

Here's a question I have, it is about warranties...

The dealer is offering a 72 month / 75000 mile warranty that covers "mechanical coverage" for $1,882 and a basic maintenance package that covers "oil & filter replacement, chassis lubrication & 15 point inspection plus $100/year reimbursement for key fob if lost or damaged" for $1,476

My question is it worth it to do either one. I was thinking that the mechanical coverage might be worth it since it is a new chassis and everything... what do you all think?

Oh and there is the Xzilon Coating that they were trying to pedal too... $699. What's the verdict? Thanks again.

No. No, no no. Do not do it. Those extended warranties are under a LOT of fire now - noticed you said SPECIFICALLY "mechanical" - imagine your fuel pump goes out. Guess what, its electrical, not "mechanical" - they wouldn't cover it. That's just one example. California has been after them for a while...

And the coating - let me guess, paint sealant? Its a joke. If its undercoating, even worse...you dont need that junk there in Florida, at all.

I used to work at a dealership - they make a LOT of money back if you haggled them to invoice pricing, by selling you this junk.

Thanks StLRedrider for the comp. and all you other gents for the quick replies. The warranty that they are peddling is called the "Security+Plus" warranty and covers the Engine, Transmission, Drive Axle, Steering, and Suspension components. The major components are on there such as the fuel pump, as well as other pumps.

What are they extended warranties facing right now? Is it that they are not honoring them as a nationwide warranty and people are getting turned away?

I guess it is just piece of mind for me in that if a pump does go out or something with the transmission fails I can just roll up to the dealer and they have to fix it.

Well with that, thanks for all the awesome replies and the comments and of course for the help!

Here's a thought - put the money they are asking for this warranty into an interest earning account. Don't touch it unless you have a non-maintenance expense come up with your Z (IOW, something you would have expected this warranty to cover). If you end up spending all or more of the account balance in the period of time or mileage the warranty covered you will be the exception, not the rule. These warranties are designed to add additional revenue for everyone on the other side of the transaction, then positioned as a benefit to you. Buy your own "warranty" coverage with the savings account and more than likely (much more than likely) you will have money left over at the end of the warranty term to buy some nice presents for your Z. Also, you will decide when your "warranty" is going to cover a repair. My

All that stuff will be covered anyway under your initial warranty. I cant remember what magazine did a special on them (Road and Track I think), but basically they all have the same issue - they will do ANYTHING they can to deny your claim, and they purposefully write their contracts so that there are tons of loopholes.

They always sound like a good deal, but almost everywhere Ive read says that its a gigantic waste of money.

Thank you for all the replies and thoughts, and I agree with all of you with the interest bearing account and for me to decide when the warranty will expire! Thanks again!

That is just too bad, I guess for her it is just that piece of mind. Now it's on to the toys!
