Default Race car sound? I think so!

I've been a proud owner of the AAM S-Line Short tails for a little while now, about three months, and have enjoyed every minute...

But naturally, because I am young and dumb and have plenty of hearing left (that could be disposed of), I decided to gain some horsepower and also get some more sound.

Inspired by Road America's VSCDA event in early September (somewhat), I bought AAM test pipes and an eBay Y pipe.

I must warn those who want a loud exhaust, this is almost as loud as it can possibly get. The only resonated portions which remain are the two 12" resonators on the stock midpipe, after the Y pipe section.

The majority of the rasp occurs at the common point of ~3000 to 4000 RPM. There's a bit of rasp if you're under 1700 and giving it more than maybe 50% throttle. I'm sure those who want to eliminate this rasp would use (R)HFCs, res'd test pipes, or perhaps the motordyne Y-pipe with the resonated or cat section.

I have found a few videos where the exhaust is mostly straight piping, but most seem to be custom fabricated. This "solution" is easily made with 500 dollars and all off-the-shelf components. The lack of a tune, however, means that I have lost a lot of the bottom end torque, until I hit 3000-3500 RPM, at which point, even the VDC has trouble controlling the power.

The following are some Youtube videos which may help some people who want a loud exhaust. You might have a light wallet or just want to get a specific sound. No offense to anyone, because my wallet is always light.

Time for long tube headers and a newly developed midpipe section...

Videos in the spoiler.
