isn't this just an AEM or something with the Nismo logo on it? I thought I read that somewhere?

Yes and no. AEM was part of the development but they still needed to make sure it complied with strict OE specifications. Apparently this has been in the works for a while Nissan just hasn't jumped the gun on it until now.
