what are the gains? does it fit on regular Z's? how much?

azn370z 08-23-2011 09:42 PM

The foam piece is something you want. In the event of water being taken in the main filter, air is drawn from these filters instead to prevent hydro-lock. Ask anyone with injen intakes in a damp climate. They will ask for these lol

I know, but I read this also allows hot engine air to be sucked in.
And this is the reason you don't see anyone using the foam piece.

Info:

Made by K&N; Foam piece is to comply with OE specifications required by Nissan; Gains?... no clue; How much?... free for me as the guinea pig ;-)

That's all I know.

Understandable, but which is more important? a few degrees higher IAT or your engine having a slurpiee?? :ugh2:

isn't this just an AEM or something with the Nismo logo on it? I thought I read that somewhere?

frostyrock7c 08-23-2011 10:06 PM

Yes and no. AEM was part of the development but they still needed to make sure it complied with strict OE specifications. Apparently this has been in the works for a while Nissan just hasn't jumped the gun on it until now.
