I actually run GTR plugs... More consistent on the dyno after switching...

I'm going with GTR plugs.

Sam/Mike,

After having this kit installed, are there any precautions we need to take with regards to bringing our cars to the dealer for any routine maintenance? I'm sure we'll have to remind them that there's a high capacity oil pan in place so that they don't underfill it during an oil change. Or tell them not to touch the tune (to keep them from flashing it back to stock). Any other pointers?

Most if not all people that that go FI do there own maintenance. Having the means to install one is one thing. But I'd highly recommend learning about the up keep on a FI kit and doing it yourself. If not defiantly defiantly find a shop that's up to date on such things.

elperuano 06-09-2013 01:18 PM

^ what he said.

I'd never take a FI car to a stealership. Either learn how to do simple upkeep like oil changes or take it to someone u trust. Never a stealership.

Depends on the dealer. My dealer installed my turbo kit. They'd do fine maintaining it if I let them.

Would Gtm have them on their web page and is there a specific name for them or just "HKS One Step Closer"? I already placed my MHI kit order  but i would feel safer if i upgraded the spark plugs aswell.?? :)

Whoa! Ur the exception..... Wait ur not running a Stillen kit r u? Lol. Thas the first I heard of a turbo kit install at a dealership. U have a personal friend there?

Chuck33079 06-09-2013 08:00 PM

Nope. My dealer's installed quite a few fi kits on 370s. Of course, there's only one guy there who gets to touch my car.

I will ask some Aussie GTR owners this anyway but are these the GTR plugs that people are using?

He is correct, the dealership has done a bunch though less now.
One tech there is a master GT-R tech and is the only one who works on the boosted Z & all GT-Rs for the dealership. He mods his own Z and has a high passion for it, plus the dealership is good about treating customers right overall.

I would say for most a dealership will screw up more than fix, but there are a couple diamonds in the rough.

DanohKeo 06-10-2013 10:15 AM

I emailed to inquire about getting myself on this list, haven't heard anything back yet..

Also, I'm a noob with forced induction. With such an upgrade to the engine, would there be any modifications to the transmission needed to handle all the newly added power?

If it's the manual, you'll eventually burn up your clutch. Put a stouter one in and you're fine. For the 7AT, there's a lot more that you'll need to do.

SPOHN 06-10-2013 10:40 AM

I'm glad you guys have faith. I wouldn't let a dealer install my kit if my dad work there.

AreJay 06-10-2013 12:16 PM

So this is Probably a stupid question but do we lose any comforts with this major upgrade in power? Such as cruise control or SRM still working properly?

You don't lose anything with their Garrett kit, so I'd assume everything still works with this one.

i see these are suggested but the Gtr Plugs would be best right? and if i wanted to get Gtr Plugs do they fit easy into the VQ37 and what would be the part number? if yall get me a link to this or if you know it it would be appreciated

khanhvu411 06-10-2013 07:12 PM

Anything about the installation manual yet?

Dzel 06-10-2013 07:15 PM

Negative I really want to see it so I can decide if I'm going to put it in or having to wait for an install.

It is really a decision point for me if I am going to get the kit now or save enough fund for a complete install from a shop. I just dont want to get the kit and sit on it. My wife will not let me get spend more than 6k and just let it collecting dust :)

The GTR plugs will work fine,it is my understanding that the HKS dissipate heat better.
And yes the GTR plugs go right in no issues.

SPOHN 06-10-2013 09:57 PM

What's all the hassle about the instructions? It's not going to be that much different from there other kit instructions. Some of the intake piping is different shaped. Don't make it harder than it is.

Chuck33079 06-10-2013 10:13 PM

It should be a hell of a lot easier than the Garrett kit since you're not drilling and tapping the head or upper oil pan.

mikey1600 06-12-2013 04:26 AM

anyone have any completed builds of this kit yet? awaiting mine :D

Alstann 06-12-2013 08:28 AM

I don't really think this is gonna be a crazy difficult install. ^^

To be honest, there are gonna be at least a dozen of us probably doing the install at the same time. Maybe we can start a thread in a few weeks where we can post questions about the kit, give tips and hints and whatnot? I think it would be a nice thing to add to and to reference to for the 80+ people doing the install.

Whatcha fellas think? :D

I'm dreading the headers but aside from that, I'm thinking it's going to be pretty straightforward. I have a couple buddies that offered to help, one of which is a mechanic. So I think I'll be in pretty good shape. I think a thread to share tips and tricks for the install is a great idea

We are pleased to announce that our production manifold has made it to our CNC machine center today for final machining process meaning that we are getting closer. As promised, here are some pics.

Oh my lord. SEXY!!!!!!!!

Defiantly looks like the flow characteristics are changing for the good.

How many can that machine make a day?

Does that change the design or length of the down pipes? Or is the placement of the mount the same?

I like the HKS to. But why buy another BOV when this kit comes with some. With two different options at that.

G37sHKS 06-13-2013 05:44 AM

I dont like the sound of TiAL BOV to be honest, they are best flow bov but sound is meh

Wattles 06-13-2013 08:08 AM

I'm ready for those new manifolds! Just drop them in with that stage 1 engine & stage 4 transmission.
