Default GTM supercharger

Whats up guys, had a few qs about the SC. One of my things is i dont wanna go twinturbo because sc's are more reliable. I want to be at around 500whp and will take care of my car and be easy on it just spirited here and there. No tracking, maybe some mountain runs. Most of the time just showing off to friends and family and those darn 5.0 Gt's. Any proof on how well and reliable this thing can run, obviously if maintained. I need honesty, cuz im going forced induction no matter what. So if i have to go 450whp or a bit lower i will. But is 500, do-able?? Im in the tristate (NJ) so if anyone is running it, id be appreciative towards you showing me it and telling me about it in person. If im planning on keeping the car for LONGGGG TERM. (10 plus years) is it even worth it?

Also Ive heard Gamma or whatev is out of bussiness? True or did they just remarket and change their name? If out of bussiness probably no type of warranty i assume. So far ive only seen this kit on vivid racing's site so idk.

Ps. I tried searching, nothing of relevance (answers that im looking for) came up.

Thanks for the insight fellaZ. Lmk.

Any forced induction route you go to will cause strain on your car no matter what.. but over the years people have tested what is the safe and reliable limit of this platform. generally and from experience of people i know personally (500whp/430tq) is "safe" while a lot are running much higher ( as high as 650whp/550wtq) without issues for many miles on the stock block.

To insure reliability of your FI project you will need to take care to address the limitations of the OEM parts

Things to watch out for

- Fuel : for your goals a return fuel system is not needed but if you want reliability and extra safety margin then it should be on top of the list

- Clutch: upgrading the clutch is a must on any FI for additional reliability you would want to replace the CSC to a heavy duty one or do and CMAK and replace the master cylinder with a new one and high temp clutch fluid.

- Cooling: oil cooler is a must as well.. you may want to upgrade your radiator or get a vented hood for better cooling. things to consider is exhaust wrap to or a turbo bag.

- Install: having your installation done by a well experienced installer with good history on working on this platform. they will know their way around.

- Tune: i think this is the most important thing after getting a proper install. this what determines how reliable it runs. getting it tuned by the best of the best in this platform with tons of experience is the key! nowadays you can have so many failsafes to protect your car incases of (over boost, lean condition, overheating, knock, etc..) and your tuner will be able to implement all of this and more to run everything within safe margins.

Personally i went with Boosted Performance Turbo kit. out of the box you will be able to reach and exceed your goals and even if you decide to higher you are not limited by anything kit wise.

Good luck!

If you’re looking to go the supercharged route, search the forums or google “TopGunz A2A Superchager kit”.

Also take into account that there is a difference between "reliability" and "risk"

GTM ashes was bought by Gamma. Gamma is now belly up. If you ever need parts. Good luck to you. For a SC kit. Topgunz's Stillen kit is a good kit. It addresses all the problems that Stillen had. And the new SC kit from RJM. But this sticks above the hood. So you have to cut the hood.

Actually it’s “TopGunz FULL supercharger kit” not to be confused with his A2A upgrade kit.

Go with A2A for a very good supercharger kit. Reliability will depend on many variables others already mention! The right supporting mods, good installation and tuning will make a turbo just as reliable as a supercharger.

Super Chargers are not more reliable than turbo's. Everything depends on the supporting mods, installation quality, and a good tune. This in no way will replace you using your brain not to beat the crap out of it and tear something up. The other thing is an upgraded 370z is very rarely as reliable as a stock one. It happens but great lengths have been strived for to find a competent shop and a set of good quality supporting mods. You can find some quality build's on here to get you going in the right direction. That is what I did. Research, research, research. Other folks have done well and other folks have had issues. Learn from them, they are free at no cost to you. You will save money in the long run. I do have 2 or 3 builds that I have based my TT upgrade on that have been reliable. I added my own flavor to it. We shall see if I have chosen wisely or poorly in the end.

The largest reliability benefit to a centrifugal supercharger is that it's not making crazy amounts of tq like a lot of turbo setups and not at full boost for that long. It helps reduce strain on the motor and inherently generates less heat. With that being said, you may have to contest with idler pulley failing, tensioner pulley failing, belts slipping or shredding, proper oiling of the unit. Its just a different set of issues to look out for.

You chose a great shop for one. Biggest mistake of 90% of builds.
