This basically allows you to modify and upload maps onto the ECU by unlocking it. This is done even on US ECU's. It's only a matter of whether your specific ECU part number has already been cracked or not. Once it's cracked, all you do is upload the maps that come with it and tuning is done. The maps and tuning software is the same for all ECU's. Unless you have the required fuel injectors, fuel pump and tuning software, then the turnkey kit is obviously the better choice in your situation.
