They are very useful and "relatively cheap" but you need end links with them. But not having them will not ruin your day.

I'd use that money first for:
Track Safety Gear:
A proper set of racing fire retardant gloves, shoes, socks, and under garments. Bright color gloves help with point bys.
A fire extinguisher and mount. I use to following
