Let me know if you can't find what you need. I'll find my old purchase.

RadioFlyer 01-01-2016 09:47 PM

Absolute last resort, you could use a silicone gasket maker, but I'd be weary of stuff messing with the MAF. I'd try a junkyard or ebay before I tried silicone.

JWillis72 01-02-2016 02:58 PM

I found one from someone in the local Z group and the new y pipe is in the car, hopefully that fixed it.

:happydance::tup::driving: $#! T....keeping our fingers crossed

MAF leaks are gone we but can hear a hiss from the valve covers, I'm guessing its blowing by the rings a little. Today was the first day the shop has been open since Christmas Eve so the place is full of people and we couldn't strap it to the dyno, I'm waiting to hear back when the tuner is available and when we can try it again.

One of your exhaust valves is not fully closed. I wouldn't worry about that.

JWillis72 01-04-2016 07:05 PM

Not disagreeing but I don't understand, how wound an exhaust valve leak out the valve cover?

It will sound like it is out of the valve cover but be deeper in the head.

EVOHUNTER 01-05-2016 06:06 PM

Didn't you have LTH's installed, it could of came loose, it could be that??

My cobra hissed all the time until I retorqued the passenger side header bolts, went away.

JWillis72 01-05-2016 06:26 PM

We do have the headers on. They said they were strapping it back to the dyno an hour ago but haven't gotten any new news.

JWillis72 01-05-2016 07:29 PM

Well at 4 he was strapping the car down but hasn't answered a text since then. I'm scared to death to know why.

wsarver 01-06-2016 10:59 AM

I sold my Z and am still glued to this thread. I hope it all turns out amazing for the trials you've been through.

Spooler 01-06-2016 11:12 AM

Have you gotten up the courage to call today????

mikey1600 01-06-2016 11:30 AM

man I feel for you! can't wait to see it finished for you.

after all that's happened, will anyone be able to replicate a kit? haha

JWillis72 01-06-2016 11:50 AM

The car only made 3psi so we decided to take all the pipes off and start fresh. Under the drivers side headlight we find this gem! A new coupler is being overnighted. The shop that did the pipes has a great reputation so I can't believe they did that BS.

Eek! Was that a torn coupler? A coupler in a coupler? Maybe they were expecting it to collapse, so they put that around it. But this isn't the first time you've had problems with the pipes they made you right? If so, I'd just say that whoever made your pipes was really eager to leave for the day. At least you found it!

TopgunZ 01-06-2016 12:25 PM

Oh snap!

JWillis72 01-06-2016 12:31 PM

It's a coupler in a coupler! Yes they used work on my Audi but not after this crap.

Jayhovah 01-06-2016 12:36 PM

That's some Busch league stuff.

JWillis72 01-06-2016 04:30 PM

It ended in a big FU contest. If you could see some of the bad *** cars they work on you wouldn't believe they do crap like that.

I don't know if I won but he sure wasn't happy I was screaming about him screwing it up twice in front of his customer. He threatened to call the police if I didn't leave.

I wish I hadn't paid him with cash, if it was on a card I would stop the payment to him.

File a complaint on Yelp for the shop. It's just a little cash to you but he can never live down negative PR on the net

TopgunZ 01-06-2016 07:22 PM

Dood. I just want to commend you for continuing to see this project through. You my friend are the definition of perseverance. You have had many hurdles.

[QUOTE=JWillis72] If you could see some of the bad *** cars they work on you wouldn't believe they do crap like that.
The shop that did my Stillen SC'r has a lot customers with Lambo's & Ferrari's - not to mention the Mercedes and Audi's.
He also has a customer with a Ford GT [not the Mustang GT :-], and another with a McLaren ... they also hand built a custom Ultima GTR.
They had great looking credentials but still my Z got F'd Up.
Not totally their fault [but...?] - it's just seems that you've got to be a Z specialist with a ton of hands on experience +plus+ a proven game plan to avoid / minimize things like this.

Nothing has gone according to plan with my build as well ... I'm in your corner on this one!

Truthfully I owe that to the owner of the shop, I quit all the time and he keeps refusing to let me. I was close today when he said lets pull it all off and look at everything. With in an hour he sent me that pic.

Late last night the shop owner sent me this and said no leaks except a tiny bit that comes out the vortech vent. I know mine has always blown a little oil out the vent but should air come out of it? I'm thinking it's okay because they have the vent there to let pressure out but I'm not sure.

At idle, totally normal!

ANMVQ 01-08-2016 10:52 AM

it's open all the time, Mine had ingested water, over heated and blew:/ I think the vent hole is a dumb design. Completely forgot about that thing. I always thought they was a "check" ball in there. But it's open 100% of time.

BTW that look a lot better :)

JWillis72 01-08-2016 01:22 PM

We are waiting for the tuner to get free to look at the log but it looks like we are closer. On the same flash as last time the car made 7psi and the most torque it has ever made.
