I love the sound the SPL bushing makes except when it whines right at the common speed limit around here, 40 mph.

The safe thing is to expect it will make noise.

It's well worth it to help reduce wheel hop and it's not just the whitelines that will cause this.

you'll definitely get it. simply due to the different material and design - eg. silicone filled main bushing vs Whiteline's solid elastomer construction.

the other reasons for the noise relate to the potential pinion angle/universal joint phasing issue. the ear bushing design is also different to oem

For those of you who run whiteline/spl differential bushings: do you run motor mounts and/or transmission mounts as well?

You'll hear the ring 'n pinion spin w/performance oriented bushings. It's a given. This is why OEM use mushy rubber bushings, to quiet NVH.

Why are people complaining about additional noise when you upgrade OEM parts to more performance-oriented parts (if not all out racing parts)?

I got my whiteline diff bushing kit installed about 5K miles ago. No complaints other than I wish I had gotten SPL solid bushings instead.

The Z is my DD btw and I don't even track it. Go buy a Tesla if you want a silent sports car

Heavier diff fluid helps quiet it down some.

I want to bring this back up. My whine that was insane that I talked about before was due to the bearing on the main pinion slipping loose and rattling around. Apparently it is a rare occurrence by a defective bearing. Idk if that is the mechanic just covering his *** or not. But whatever I had to order a new bearing and install kit and have the job redone. Everything is good now and the whine from the bushing is barely anything. I only get a whine around 40-50 mph and again at 60mph. I like the noise though and it does add character to the car. All in all I am happy with the bushings now

Cool. Thanks for sharing your experience. I should have my installation complete in the next two weeks.

do you guys install the smaller bushing on top or bottom of the diff? i believe that makes a difference in the whine sound.
