whiteline diff bushing gear noise

I was wondering if anyone has gear whine on acceleration with the whiteline diff bushings. I have pulled the differential multiple times to change backlash and the noise doesnt change. Backlash is in the center of spec. Last thing to change would be the pinion bearings.

These bushings are a lot more firm that the OEM silicone-filled bushes and transmit noticeably more noise than the OEM bushes.

I am not surprised you've noticed more noise, I certainly have.

agreed. i get a knock on some shifts too but it's only been 20km since installing these over the past two nights.

at least the slop is gone!

This gear whine is only under throttle and starts at about 25 mph. Sounds like a siren, gets higher in pitch with speed .Can only hear it with radio off and is speed based, not rpm. Those with these bushings do you have these symptoms?

It's normal. I have the SPL ones, probably 3 times worse than Whiteline in noise, but 3 times better in performance.

Yes I have the exact same noise. Glad I am not the only one.

Is it possible it's not tire noise?

Hotrodz 10-28-2014 10:32 PM

I have it to...I asked Seb about it not to long after the install and he said it's normal. I hardly even notice it now. Kind of like all the other 101 noises the car makes and I know each one of them.

Does the noise quiet down as the bushing get worn in?

I have about 4-5k miles of hard driving and I haven't noticed any change. Doesn't really bug me though. The throwout bearing sound our cars make is 20x more annoying IMO

Optimiser 02-19-2015 07:35 PM

My Whiteline bushings have actually become quieter after a few thousand K's.:driving:

Charles370 02-19-2015 08:18 PM

Yea I just picked my car up from the mechanic and he said the noise is normal and should quiet down after the bushings get worn in. My god it's like a supercharger is on my diff lmao

juld0zer 02-19-2015 08:52 PM

ive had my bushings for over 4mths now, so about 7000km and it's still making noise. my ears have gotten used to it and it adds a nice character to the car.

however, i did reverse the ear bushings and that itself made a massive difference

Makes me think twice about getting the whitelines now. Is this whine kind of a hit and miss thing, or will I definitely get it?
