Hi to everybody! I found this threat regarding last oil change in my new 370z. After 7.000 km (about 4.300 Miles) Z became Millers XF 5W50. Stock oil was 5W30.

Hi to everybody!
I found this threat regarding last oil change in my new 370z. After 7.000 km (about 4.300 Miles) Z became Millers XF 5W50. Stock oil was 5W30. Unfortunately I’ve noticed little bit higher temperature of oil while normal driving - about 5 degrees Celsius. Same conditions outside - about 14 degrees Celsius. I’ll try to check it on German highway soon, but maximum was always 110 degrees Celsius. Did somebody noticed same problem after oil change? Or should i forget this oil? PS. Sorry for my English. Your oil is too thick. Go back to 5W30.

Thanks. I’ll try to drive it next 7000 km and observe it. Maybe its better for winter time? There are so many people saying 5W50 is better for Z.... Some of them are sure, 5W30 kills engine after 30-40k km’s driving on the limit. And if you go to Germany, there is no way to drive easy like in my country. Tomasz |

No. Thicker oil is not better in Winter - the opposite is usually true. 5W30 will NOT damage the engine; it's what the factory calls for.

Too thick of an oil will rob you of horse power. Most of us here run oil weights of 5w-40 and in between. The high HP guys run something like 5w-30. 5w-50 is for engines that have loose clearances.
