Oil temp questions

Not to revive this discussion, but don't forget the location of the oil temp reading. Our cars read oil temp right before oil enters back into the engine (coolest, especially after flowing through oil cooler), whereas some other cars read it right after oil flows out of their engines (hottest).

Ran 195* on the dash oil temp gauge on the highway this weekend with 25 row cooler installed. Previous to cooler I was at 255* same, 103* heat index/humid weather. I'm going to get a shot on the oil pan with an infrared thermometer to see what the sump reads next time out.

I've seen someone on here mention this before. I want to think they said basically add 10-15 degrees to what your gauge says for a guestimate on what it is at the other end? So these guys that are seemingly on the edge of the 180* rule w/ 170 showing on the guage should be in the 180-190 range?
