Why the need for the T56? I had been under the assumption that the stock CD009/CD00A were good up to about 850ish bhp? Better ratios possibly? Is it a physically lighter weight transmission?

T56 has a huge aftermarket. I don't think there's even aftermarket synchros for the CD while the T56 has custom gearsets along with alternatives to synchros. I believe some of the fastest H-pattern drag cars belong to T56s (probably face-plated)

I been saying this for years. Yes they are faceplated. No Z will ever make enough power to break those faceplated t56 transmission.

nope sorry there have been aftermarket cd gearsets for 16 years but no one in the z market spends the money on them you can get faceplates, carbon synchros, you name it. People here are just broke. is the t56 aftermarket larger? yes. Is the quality of parts better? no but its easier to justify buying a built transmission for your 900hp vette than it is paying the same amount for your 600hp z.

Nisformance does it for the front wheel drive trans, some of them fit. Despite what they tell everyone that calls, it would appear synchrotec actually does private label some stuff because I know those aren't Honda synchros.
