Default Shortened output shaft play

Curious what everyone has done that shortened their drivers side shaft when ditching the vlsd? It fits right in but doesn’t lock in..slides back and forth. When I removed it from the vlsd it had no ring or anything locking it in place? Cut 1.7 inches off and put it into a Wavetrac.

You just cut the stub axle?

I thought the VLSD stub axles were shorter on the driver (LH) than the passenger (RH) side. So for the Wavetrac you need to replace the RH side stub axle with the shorter stub axle used on the LH side.

I cut the longer one, and going off Z1s site if I buy one to replace it says it replaces the drivers side “left if your sitting in the car” original short one snapped right in, this has nothing on it when I took it out and all the others who did this looks the same? I had 1.7 taken off. Slides in and bolts up etc no prob it just doesn’t lock. It can slide in and out..don’t really want this thing popping out.

Should be fine once you bolt everything back together, no? If you're worried about it then just do it right with a second LH stub axle.

I got my shorty stud shaft from Z1. If had a snap ring on it to lock it into place.

Thanks I noticed they do- and mine never had one even when removing it which is what had me confused. I’ll get one coming shortly just getting all
The other things done first. Just thought If this worked for others why the hell not since I was working in a machine shop at the time
And the teacher did it for nothing

Just me being dumb. Bought the clip like the other side. Problem solved for anyone who cares! Moves 1/8 inch more than the other side.
