NST lightweight pulleys

Stillen and Unorthodox Racing also made lightweight pulleys for the Z. I haven't checked to see if they still do.

I thought Unorthodox Racing only made parts for Hondas. There is nothing regarding Nissan on their page.

Stillen doesn't seem to have pulleys for the 370z either.

I think NST was kicked from being a vendor because they were ******* with shipments in group buys. I was one of the people that was getting shafted in the group buy but eventually, 6mo later, received the pulley.

My pulley is fine and I run 100hp of nitrous (occasionally) for the last 3.5 years.

Some have claimed that their engines have blown due to the harmonic resonance. *shrug*

I'm trying to gauge how bad these pulleys actually are... it seems the original thread by NST was full of nothing but praise regarding the pulleys.. all 97 pages (and hate regarding delivery times).

Why did NST stop being a vendor on this forum? Seems odd they are still in business but would drop off a forum. Were they just unable to keep up with demand regarding the pulleys?

From what I gather, it looks like hundreds of people have bought these, but I've only come across maybe 5 or 6 failures. I don't know what to think, but it seems like these pulleys would be a nice power bump across the entire RPM range, as opposed to other mods, like intakes, that only really benefit at the top of the RPM range. Also, has anyone actually suffered engine damage from the pulley failing? Or was it just the pulley itself?

I also find it interesting that no one else makes these pulleys for the 370z, besides NST. Maybe everyone else is on to something...

How many miles have you put on the car, with the pulley installed? Just curious.

Just got my car back from the shop after this wonderful thing happening while on the freeway.

I was lucky to limp it back home

I had about 30K on this NST pulley and it was supposed to be the 2nd Gen NST so am I the first? I doubt it.

Anyway any of you running these pulleys good luck your on a time bomb waiting to go off.

Unhappy

Trips, you're lucky that it didn't take out the front of the crank or the oil pump.

Yea no kidding

I really never thought something like this would happen to me, but that just goes to show nobody's immune to a potential failure even yours truly.

Anyways just wanted to pass on my experience in showing even these are prone to failure.

I was fortunate my shop only charged me a couple of hrs to remove and re-install my original parts.

I don't know how close you are, but the shop's in Santa Fe Springs.

Nonetheless a local repair shop could do the work.

Its pretty straight forward IF you have some mechanical skills.

You can take it off yourself before it goes to save some $$ IF you got the time mechanical skill and some tools.

In my situation I had to pay because the issue now is there's nothing really left of the center pulley

to use a common pulley extractor so it can get a little more complicated like in my case.

There are a few threads on here on how to install a pulley IF not Youtube's your best friend

Might be the time to make my switch to ATI Super Damper and get a light weight flexplate instead.
