Default Welding the Diff?

Hey guys,
I got a 2014 370z base model, I'm wanting to weld my diff because I don't want to use money on a 2 way LSD. I'm wanting to use it as a DD and a drift car. Has anyone welded their diff? How was it? Has anyone or know anyone that welded their diff on a 370z and broke something? Thanks.

Do not weld a DD diff. It will not be tolerable and on wet roads, near enough to undriveable unless you have done this before.

A solid/welded differential is a track-only modification, IMNSHO. As BGTV8 pointed out, a welded diff can be dangerous on the street.

I can't imagine a drift car making a very good DD and vice versa. The goals of each are VERY different and too many compromises would have to be made - you end up with a car that doesn't do either job very well.
Of course, there are as many definitions of what makes a good DD (or drift car) as there are drivers, so YMMV.

Buy a differential or leave the car alone. Either option is better than the alternative!

There's a member on here with a welded diff his ID is: VDC_OFF
Search for his build thread he has pics and videos of his drift events.

Here's my 2 cents- DON"T...
I've had a lot of daily drivers/ drift cars I'm currently on my 5th build with my Z and have a KAAZ 2 way diff sitting in my living room going in next week. My last drift/daily was a G35 coupe. BUT, I worked my way up to these cars. If this is your first drift car and you plan on relying on it for a daily it's not a good plan... You will crash your first drift car- everyone does.
This is one of those things that if you're unsure of it and you need to ask the advice/ opinions of strangers then you have no business attempting it- no offense-

If you are really building the car to drift.. mine as well toss out the idea of a DD. Streeting it once and a while to derp around is one thing.. Dailying a dedicated drift car is a whole different world. My 2cents.

370s are the new s chassis, they are very cheap to buy and don’t need a quarter as much work to make a good drift car. Weld it. I have been just fine DDing all my welded diff cars.

Sadly, price seems to positively related to the quality of advice, and inversely related to the number of zombie thread bumps for no reason.
