DIY: Replace dreaded steering-lock on 2009s and early 2010s.

i think you can get reimbursed, but not 100% sure. make sure to keep the documents when your car is fixed, i guess.

Yeah, you have to keep your receipts and invoices to prove the work was done. You will then be refunded the cost when there is a recall. That happened to me with my Toyota.

If these parts are on restricted order, I'd guess Nissan is clamping down to ensure they can address true failures prior to starting a full recall. Probably trying to stockpile the parts from the supplier.

Why would Nissan hold a part back? Money is money right?

i'd like to see the faces of GTR owners that will probably get yet another round of recall for the same damn thing...bring back the RevC's, we'll install new RevD's. lol..

i think the best one can do at this point is keep a spare if feasible.

i think it has to do with availability of parts. they are on allocation for the immediately needed customers.

Mine just failed and the remedies didn't work so I took the part out and opened it up. I was able to simulate it but, the down fall is my steering wheel will not lock anymore even when its off. Hopefully, I can figure how to get this part to work properly again. If not, I'll just keep driving as it is or buy a new part if it bothers me that much.

that suck. can you post up if you have RevB or RevC?

also if you could let us know how you went about opening the unit and what part of the lock was failing.... was the gear jammed or some relay or something was stuck?, etc. thanks!

Thanks! I noticed theres that flashing Red car with the key. Its only there when the car is off..when i turn the car on/driving its gone. Is this something i need to worry about? Or is this a type a theft alarm or something?
