DIY: Replace dreaded steering-lock on 2009s and early 2010s.

2009 Nismo here, with a build date of July 09 I believe. Just checked the part number, looks like I have "JF00C". I'm assuming the previous owner ran into this

Just checked the part number, looks like I have "JF00C". I'm assuming the previous owner ran into this problem and had it replaced. So does anyone know if it has been confirmed that JF00A and JF00B are the only mechanisms that have failed? Has any "C" or "D" versions failed?
