Mike... I might take you up on this offer. I am going to be going to be using the Tru-Cool cooler and will probably start getting the kit together next month.

Sure, let me know. The hose place is 5 minutes from my house, so its no inconvenience for me.

My name is Jack Borsos, General Manager of Racer Parts Wholesale in Indy. I've received a couple of e-mails regarding this issue. I have been in contact with Aeroquip on this. Below is the response from Eric Durrant Manager, Aeroquip Performance Products.
Aeroquip's Performance Products FBN and FBV SOCKETLESS hoses are not designed for any type of clamp to place over the fitting once the fitting is inserted into the hose. Aeroquip's Performance Products FBN hose is the same construction as FC598 and has been formally qualified with SOCKETLESS fittings at the 250 PSI pressure rating as stated in the Aeroquip Performance Products catalog for FBN hose. FC598 is not listed in the Aeroquip Industrial catalog with SOCKETLESS fittings, because of the advertised 100R6 pressure rating. In you want to achieve 100R6 pressures with FC598 you need a crimp fitting. Eric Durrant Manager, Aeroquip Performance Products One other thing to remember is that when the hose is pressurized it actually contracts by up to 10% because of the braid angle of the reinforcement in the hose. Slack is very important in routing the hose. To those that have purchased products from RPW I thank you for your support and can assure you that the Aeroquip products are of the highest quality and can be used with complete confidence. To those that have not purchased from us please visit our website. Jack |

Thanks Jack! I've been very pleased with my products and have had zero issues as of yet. I was also very happy with your company in regards to friendliness, knowledge, and willingness to help. The product was also shipped very quickly, especially at your fixed rate.

Just finished installing the Modshack oil cooler kit. Did a couple of things differently. Instead of drilling two holes in the plastic panels I used a 2 1/8" hole saw and just made one and used 7" of 1/8 hose and fabricated a large grommet. Be very careful installing the elbow into the core as you can cross thread very easily. I did this and ended up taking it to a professional to get a new elbow (a brass fitting and a little more heavy duty) and he installed them for me. Of course, after I started it up there was a leak at the core with one of the brass fittings. He had used blue locktite and probably should have used locktite sealant. So I removed this fitting and went back to the blue elbow fitting and used teflon tape and everything seems to be working okay. The socketless fittings went on pretty easily with some SAE 30 lubricant and per Aeroquip's recommendation decided not to use any cable ties.

Thanks Jack,
I used the FBN1000 hose referenced at the beginning of this post with the socketless fittings and plenty of slack, no add on connectors, and the hose popped off and caused me to wreck. I will stick to purpose built hoses from a professional manufacturer from now on.

Mike,
I know it has been several months but do you still have the fittings and the hose that popped off? I know Aeroquip would like to inspect them if possible. Thanks |

It would be nice to know exactly what happened with your hose or fitting. These socketless fittings are approved for private aircraft, the NHRA has approved them and they have a reliable track record.

yea, I agree, but I had the new hoses made the day after my accident and don't think I was really thinking that straight or far ahead.

I will have this complete Modshack cooler setup for sale, with the newly custom made hoses real soon, as I am getting the new Stillen one for their front bumper if anyone is interested. I'm thinking 300 shipped. The new hoses were 110 by themselves.

TRU-L7B TRU-Cool 24 Row Racing Oil Cooler $44.95 (11" x 5.75" x 1.5")
It worked great here all of last late summer and fall at some hot track days.
