Default Oil cooler

Thanks Modshack just finished mind but went to Jegs and bought a oil cooler kit rated for 300+hp for $230.00. Ran my lines with the other cooler lines so.. I went above the sway bar out the side the drilled those two holes went behind the other silver colored cooler in front with my lines to the new oil cooler will post pics tomorrow. My kit had me use silver clamps at the fittings

Got a link? I can't find what you are talking about on Jegs.

The sandwich plate has the following description:

This compact, lightweight, high-flow sandwich plate incorporporates a 180o oil thermostat to regulate oil flow to the cooler until the engine is properly warmed up. The sandwich plate is 1-5/16" thick with 1/2" Parallel ports.

I understand that 180 should 'probably' be the minimum/ideal oil temp. Can someone clarify this:

1. Based on the description above, does that mean that oil flow gets 'cut off' when the oil temperature falls below 180 deg?

2. If the thermostat acts like an on-off switch, where and when could ' overcooling' occur?

Thanks.

Modshack,

If you have not reinstalled the front fascia can I please trouble you to get me rough dimensions of the engine radiator?

Road Test Update:

went out in the country today and thrashed the car about for 45 minutes or so. Ambient temps 75 degrees, average coolant temps 184, Average oil temps 190. I had to work hard to get it to 200 degrees and it would not get hotter than that. I'm seeing a 25-30 degree average reduction from what I would expect to see without the cooler under similar drive conditions...

quick not. instead of tefflon tape. Locktite thread sealant works better and will not introduce and teflon pits into your oil system.
