How long before you got new brake pads?

My car is a 2011 with sport package at 43k and still has oem pads and rotors. How does everyone check how much brake pad is left over without taking

My car is a 2011 with sport package at 43k and still has oem pads and rotors. How does everyone check how much brake pad is left over without taking the calipers off? With my other DD Honda I can just take out the wheel and look at the side of the brakes where as the sport brakes it's not visible to see the pads

You have to remove the wheel to inspect the pad thickness.
