Rear Speaker size

Forgot to say the mounting depth of those areas in the dash there is not much room at all underneath them, so probably not going to get 3 inch woofers

Juleous, people have different tastes and as you can read plenty agree that rears are not good for the z. If you want them than get them please do not question someone and there opinion because you think it is wrong.

Never questioned anyone on their preference I just stated how I like to set my system up. And questioned why it was tough to balance the rears, in case you didn't notice the reason I go on this forum is so I can learn from other peoples experiences as I am sure why most people come here. If someone has troubles with something I wan't to know why so I don't have the same troubles. All the mods I have done on the Z I have learned on this web site. For that I am very thankfull cause my Z would still be stock otherwise.

All this expertise on a Z and you don't even own one, you state opinions that sway other Z owners one way or the other and yet you have spent no more time in one than it takes to put in a sound system. Maybe one day when you can afford to buy a nice car like the Z you can have the right to state general audio opinions about the Z. I think I will take my sound system advice from someone that actually owns one thanks for coming out.

LOL I was driven around in a z in california for 3 days after doing an audio system. I have done 350z's and driven a bmw 740il around for 3 weeks during the install in that "with customers permission of corse" That same person will hand over keys to a brand new skyline gtr at the end of the year for a audios system. I think people enjoy my opinions because I have been doing installs and know these cars. Considering I have done over 13 370'z I think I know what I am talking about having no rear speakers. Besides I do not even run rears in my car but I install rear speakers on cars that people want them or need them like 4 door cars with rear seats.

Wow.. you sound like a bitter little kid who has to resort to the whole, "well how would you know? you don't own one.. Is that really the best you can do? Nonsense.. I guess for a mechanic to be able to fix a certain type of car he has to own it and anything else he is just plain clueless. Big simply stating his opinion and never said you are not entitled to your own. You want to go install rear speakers? GO RIGHT AHEAD! No ones stopping you! In addition to that, hes done MANY MANY installs on MANY types of cars. He knows his what works well and what doesn't which is why people go to him for advice and information. Hell he was flown out to California to do an install because of that expertise. But I guess you're right.. How the heck does he know what REALLY works in a Z... after all he doesn't own one...(sarcasm in case you could pick up on that...)

Yea sure what ever you think, the Cali install seriously? That guy got jacked for the price of a plane ticket for an install he could have done himself. I agree Matt has been very helpfull for alot of people IMO but he won't keep his opionions out of a thread I know he doesn't recommend rear speakers to customers he has mentioned it several times but I think that is plain wrong to sell someone short when they don't know themselves. This thread is about replacing the stock rear speakers which I am very interested in, if your not stay out.

The guy in cali Derek did not want to take his z to just any guy in cali. It was a brand new car and I never charged him for install fees. I save people money by recommending they save money for stuff they do not need, not by added stuff they are just going to fade out.

BTW going to Texas in the fall for another install on a z.

Uh.. selling someone short? Like I said you want to replace your rears go ahead. No one is stopping you! And the last time i checked... not installing rear speakers costs less than installing them, but whatever to each his own. I could care less about what you do, but don't even TRY to discredit someone's expertise simply because he disagrees with your rationale. You're taking his differing opinion WAY too personally.

Sorry for the hijack

Back to the rear speakers, I would like to know what have worked well for those that have gone the rear speaker route? Focal has some good 4" low profile set if Coax that might work well I was looking at some Bostons I am going to drive them off the HU amp when I change out the Bose.

The infinity's I have seen work well not sure about focal's but the slim ones even run big sometimes. Check these as well.

Thanks for the advice on the rear components. I am also looking at the Focal coaxial for the rear. They are pretty deep but should fit with modifications. I was a bit surprised at only a 50% improvement with the JBL’s. I had planned to install the front Focal comp onents and use the bose head unit for a while. Maybe I will wait.

I guess that rear fill or no rear fill is purely a matter of opinion. The thing that isn't a matter of opinion is what sizes fit and how deep the driver can be. This is absolutely what I've had the hardest time getting a straight answer on.

I have a 2012 370Z with the navigation. I've already had installed two amps, and a 10" sub. I need components for the front and I *want* rear midbass. What you hear in a car from a 4", 6", 8", 10" 12" or 15" driver is a different sound in spite of the same music on the same frequency.

The extra midbass, focus on mids over bass, would be nice. Additionally, and it's my opinion, that a tweeter back there isn't going to do a whole lot other than add to noise. I'd rather have a driver that is focused on a specific range rather than a tiny coaxial attempting to do it all. I also prefer silk dome tweeters to the titanium or whatever focal audio uses as I find it too shrill.

If someone knows the max size and depth for front and rear I'd be appreciative of hearing about it.
