Rear Speaker size
What size rear Speaker have to get ?
recommend Good rear speaker please .... |
most people are just disconnecting the rear. theyre useless.
|
There are a few threads about this. They are small like 3.5 I think they were. They are unless for a small sports car like the z use that money towards a netters amp or better components

To each there own but people have been much happier with better fronts. Even regular people like it as well as myself running no rears in a civic. Look ay it this way a concert all your audio is in front of you not coming from the rear. Those small speakers are going to screw with where you thing the sound is coming from because they are so close to your ears. What are those small speakers gping to do other than limit how high you can go before they clip unless you fade them out. Just my though as a guy into sq.

Don't confuse what I am saying the front stage is the biggest part to creating a good sound stage, but when you don't put any rear speakers in what so ever then you have no chance of adding any rear fill if you so want cause you took them out. ODVIOUSLY  Same reason for putting the 2 10" in my system, how can you really crank it if you never put the system in capable of those levels in the first place. You can always turn it down or off if you want, but how are you gonna put them back easily if you want. Ever heard of the saying you can always cut more wood off but it's way harder to put it back? |
Some like just the fronts; others are happy with the rear-fill.
Search on my posts. I have some 'serious' components (IMHo), but ended up having the rears. Careful on your rear- speaker selection. You need to find low-profile ones. |

Having read most of the threads on speaker size and rear speaker (yea vs. nay), I've come to the conclusion that I'm putting them in. I'm not going to locate the thread now, but I've read (on this forum) that a 4" will fit with modifications. Personally, I'm putting Focal 100 CVX 4" Coaxials in back and 165 V30s up front. I plan to do the full install of everything this week and will put up a documentation afterward.
bigaudiofanat is a rockstar when it comes to advice and knowledge and has provided this forum and many folks with excellent direction and advice. I politely disagree with his philosophy of rear speakers, but recognize his talent and expertise and will be using his thoughts in my install. Cheers, Kevin |
I'm in the midst of installing a pair of Infinity Kappa 32.9cf 3 1/2" and they went in with minor (5 minutes) modification to the body panel. The Infinitys have a lip that fits perfectly over the lip in the body panel. I'll know positively tonight whether or not there need to be any other mods, but I'm 90% sure the panels will go back in with no other changes needed.
In reference to the concert listening. When you're at a concert, there is quite a bit of echo and reverberations that don't happen in a car. I personally like having sound all over the place, especially if you have a 5.1 HU. It's all personal taste I guess. |

Thanks for the link - I'm in the midst of fully damplifying my car. I've looked at the rear speaker options and I'm going to have to fab something up to fit the Focal 100 CVX's in the rear. I agree with you that sound usually has resonance and bounces off of places when listening. Also, I figure, why ask 2 speakers to do what 4 can do? Why not spread the load? Yes, some folks tell me to put the $ from the rears into the fronts and I'll get better sound - but I'm guessing the Focal 165 V30s are a pretty good place to be in the fronts. Just a thought. they should use the rear speakers as noise cancellation speakers..
|
I disagree, there is plenty of volume able to be produced from the fronts that rears are not needed. People that are installing them will find out that they are going to be over ran with the rears and have to turn them way down.
