I'll hopefully be able to get some 1/4 mile runs finally here in the next month or so.
|
i kept ajusting the fuel curve with the Cobb aces port.
it started to rain before my last pass and i could not run the fuel curve that i made best 60 ft 1.84 best 1/8 8.04 and a few 12.62 passes when i hit the rev limter at 8100 One was a great run and i hit it shifting from 3rd to 4th. I data logged it it cost me 2.4th on a 12.62 pass. Temp was 49 degress and 95 RH % learned a lot about tire presures today i ran at 18to 17.0 lbs. to traction problems, will try to run higher preasure next time Now for the BAD NEWS all motor stock mustang 2013 5.0 ran 10.88's all day " all moter " unbeilable !!!!!!!! |

As far as DA adjustments, there has to be a “Standard Reference” (SAE J2723) when determining the Rated HP of a given vehicle. And this is done by operating the vehicle in a “Standard Environmental Condition”. Ideally, a Standard Environmental Condition (“Standard Day”), and would be: 1. Sea level 2. A barometer of 29.92” Hg. 3. An ambient air temperature of 59 degrees F (+15 C) 4. A relative humidity of 0% This meteorlogical condition is the basis of determining rated SAE HP. It is also the standard condition for determining 1/4 mile acceleration performance. Just because a track is at an elevation close to sea level, the Density Altitude (DA) of a given track may be real high due to a local environmental condition of low barometric pressure, high temperature and/or high humidity at the time … So, we can say that; Density Altitude (DA) is the actual altitude of the track adjusted for the barometric pressure and relative humidity at the time. Then combine a high PA with a high ambient air temperature, and you get a very high Density Altitude (DA) … Density Altitude is the actual track altitude above sea level, adjusted for the barometric pressure, ambient air temperature and relative humidity. And a high DA is what kills horsepower and results in high ETs and low trap speeds. On the other hand, operating a vehicle on a track close to sea level, at very cold track temperature, a condition of high barometric pressure and very low humidity would result in faster 1/4 mile times than when operated at a Sea Level / Standard Day track, and would also not be an accurate measurment of the car’s rated HP. Without a “standard condition reference”, there is no way to determine whether or not a certain modification has made an improvement or not in regard to power output … So, you need to make an adjustment in the ET and Trap Speed for the variation in Density Altitude on that given day and time. |
You are doing 13's completely stock. Good job. With a few mods & a tune 370's can do 12's quiet easily. Have fun drag racing
|
i think i'm going saturday for a test and tune to hopefully beat my best time at a different track. i should have had my intakes by now but i guess their build date got delayed. oh well bright side i can see the difference in time based on different tracks with same mod (exhaust only) so i'm happy about that. i'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.
|
you're on the list! keep racing and get those ET's down!

I just kinda laughed at it. :icon17: |
Back in the seventies I ran a 10.01"et on my dragbike. It took almost two years before I finally got the three-digit time card. That was hard to follow.

I went to the drag strip last Friday, but had no luck. Not sure what the problem was but I had like no traction at all. Didn't get even a single decent launch. Was getting wheel hop at first, then after lowering the tire pressure the wheels just kept spinning and spinning after at each launch. Tried shifting early to the next gear, but wheels were spinning all the way into 4th. Temps were in the 50s and my summer tires were pretty worn (2/32 or less tread left). Very frustrating day so I just left after like 5-6 horrible runs. Best I managed was 13.45 @ 108 even with the traction issues. That was my first run and things just seemed to get worse and worse further into the night. Quote:

The drag section here is kind of slow so
I changed my rear end from a 3:90 to 4:08. I have 100% stock suspension, but I did a common sense adjustment/change that may help me get 1.60's 60foot times. As soon as the weather clears, (tired of the rains & humidity) I will try to go under my 12.504 record run. I'll be at Atco & or Raceway Park. Company welcome, so would witnesses that can verify a mostly stock Z.....:)
|
Say when. I'm on the verge, too. TIming has to be right.
Good luck for you. 1.6 60" times are envious, indeed. :) Coop |

I need 1.60 times because I'm UNDER 300whp. Maybe 290? Stock intake, test pipes with stock exhaust minus muffler. Muffler was lost to the flood:) With cooler air, my new 4:08 gears & a slight adjustment to my stock suspension might help me achieve my goal. Under 12.5 or die.:icon14: |
Great news GTM has shipped my stage 4 fully built 7 AT with his latist VB with all the mods. With my Pro torque converter this should be a killer comination.
the only problem is will the track be open in the 2nd week of Nov. Im going this Sat weather permiting high of 46 degrees . and sunny. still N/A with bolt ons. will post times Z |

New Personal Best: 13.37 @104.76
http://i50.tinypic.com/64jwap.jpg Running on Bridgestone RE-11 305/30/19 My first three runs where 3.38, 3.37 and 3.38. Running 25psi Those where the best, after that I tried adjusting by lowering tire pressure to see if I could get sub .2 60' times, but they just got worse and I forgot to bring the air pump. Went a couple of times at 22psi, and my 60' where 2.3/2.4 had horrible wheel hop and worst times (13.6/13.8), seems these tires like more air. Track temperature was around 75F, I'm still not pleased with my trapping speed, fully bolted and tuned, removed (Spare tire, jack, etc..) There was one run where i trapped higher 13.38@ 105.31, 60' 2.16. what you guys think?? |

Also I ran a 13.3 in 95 degree weather before too |
