All car companies copy each other. It's market competition. If toyota has a truly stunning innovation, do BMW and Mercedes ignore it or come up with their own version of it? Or do they simply buy licensing from toyota? I'm guessing they don't ignore it if it attracts consumers.

Then where are the German supra's!?

I'm glad the german's pushed the envelope with the M's and AMG's and RS versions getting more and more powerful. It likely inspired Nissan to get the GTR over here (FINALLY!!!)

I highly doubt that.

AMG, ///M, and P-car customers are not Nissan customers. Walk into a BMW or Porsche dealership and walk into a Nissan dealership. The difference is substantial.

I know. They usually can't drive and return the porsche's in 2 weeks because they're "too bumpy". Just because they have the money to afford more doesn't mean a thing. The one badge they all wear proudly is paying too much for their cars. Many purchase cars for status and to compensate for other areas of their lives that are lacking (often between their legs). The GT-R has a long heritage of racing and will stack up just fine against AMG, M, or porsche.

Re: dealerships, they are extremely different. They cater to money, not really enthusiasts. Even porsche. My father went looking for a GT3 and was asking the salesman technical questions regarding the suspension and he had NO CLUE wtf he was talking about. He was more concerned with what kind of coffee my dad wanted while he waited in the lobby. BMW is also notorious for this, at least where I'm from. Jersey is loaded with people and money. Every J-Wow wanna-be drives a white 3 series with a cigarette sticking out and thump music bellowing from the harmon kardon or whatever the heck system bmw uses in their "upgraded sound" package these days and every Situation-in-training is rocking an AMG or M3, automatic of cours. Part of being a true enthusiast is knowing how and where to spend your money. If money is not a factor, by all means bring on the stampede of prancing horses in bright fire engine red.

Just from looking at the article, it looks like a grand prix/G8 to me. I'm just saying.

Some people don't have a car's performance as their top priority in the decision making process. Some like to have looks, luxury, and comfort as top priorities and then choose the high performance trim of the same model to have a good overall balance. I don't have any problem with that. Not everyone is going to track their car, so having the all out best performance car on the street means nothing to them. They want a car that is comfortable and fun to drive. One day when I get old, I will probably be one of them

There isn't an AMG or ///M that can beat the GT-R. It's main competitors are the 911 turbo (the next gen 911's are coming out this year I think) and the Corvette. Those are all cars made specifically to be performance machines and bred for the track.

I believe the GT-R was made to compete with the 911 Turbo. Nissan specifically challenged Porsche's lap time on the Nurburgring. They most likely brought it to the US to increase their sales, its a pretty large market here.

It sure is a good time to be in the market for a sports car, i think thats something we can all agree on. Whether its a 30, 40, 50k car, there are many choices and each car company is trying to outdo the other. I really cant see myself purchasing a Hyundai sports car, but who knows what they will do with their new coupe......im sure a lot of Porsche guys said the same thing about owning a Nissan GT-R, so we'll see!

They are real seats, plenty of leg room, problem is head room. Unless you're 5"6 or less, you'll need to hunch back to fit.
