High hopes for a Z35 (should Unicorns actually exist). Next Gen Genesis Coupe. Itll be a year or two though still.

I've test driven the G70, car of the year hype and all. It is pretty nice for the money. Like if that's all you can spend, you didn't really settle. But it's never quite like the other established luxury brands. Basically it was designed really well, but of course you're not getting over-the-top materials.

I'll admit I haven't looked into newer Q's, but I felt like Infiniti was missing the mark when Lexus got more aggressive with refinement. I mean I've heard of Infiniti rental cars more so than Lexus rental cars. I've rented a QX50 and just wasn't convinced it was any kind of premium vehicle. Tried out the whole F sport line before. Those are legitimately nice cars to be in. Q60 interior in pictures looks nowhere close to the RC350 (or 200t for that matter). Mazda and Toyota have stepped up their own interiors too.

Haven't looked into Acura much, because wrong wheel drive, but I can't imagine Infiniti has been all that impressive lately in general.

I've driven both infiniti and G70. The materials are slightly better in the G70. The transmission is lightning years better in the G70. The engine is better in the infiniti. Lexus doesnt drive better than hyundai and infiniti. But they are more refined. That's from driving an IS LEX

Infiniti is falling apart, and I’ve had three. G35, M37s, and FX35 HR (which I still have). The new Infiniti cars are just fast luxury cars NOT sports cars. I’d take a GS350 F-sport over any RedSport car in the canyons. Lexus has their handling/ steering feel game on point. Needless to mention, the superior quality over Infiniti.

Can’t speak about the new Genesis vehicles, however I see that brand as a huge marketing flaw. They tried to derive a distinct brand from a previous Hyundai model, so the “Hyundai” branding still remains for many. From videos and car shows, they look like very nice cars.

I owned a G35 and 37s. I agree. I haven't driven the GS. But I hear Lexus is.coming back to driving dynamics on every model.

They try to act like sports cars dont sell. But all the utilitarian cars that sell. Shift drive and feel like sports cars. A lot of car companies dont deserve to exist right now... or st least their models.

I think he means that Hyundai lifted the name of their luxury marque from an existing Hyundai model, whereas Toyota and Nissan (and Honda in North America) created an entirely new badge. At least as far as I know, there was no "Toyota Lexus" or "Nissan Infinity" car.

Not that this slight of hand with names is fooling anybody, anyhow.

Infiniti is more of Nissan’s luxury line as already stated to those how have owned or driven an Infiniti know their quality control is excellent comparing to Hyundai. When I test drove the Q60 it is truly an amazing vehicle to own if you can afford one that is. I believe Nissan/Infiniti will be unveiling something in the future to compete with rival brands a specially Hyundai. As a Z enthusiast I too have high hopes Nissan will have the Z35 model. As far as Hyundai go’s I have owned three Hyundai’s before unfortunately the quality of their vehicles is poor in my experience the longer you own them the faster they fall apart and resale value has a lot to be desired. When purchasing a vehicle you get what you pay for indeed. Having test drove and seen the Hyundai Genesis it is not worth the price they are asking for one new in my opinion. I boycott Hyundai and don’t believe in supporting South Korea and purchasing their vehicles to each their own. Hopefully North America will get smarter it’s unfortunate. We will see in the near future what vehicles Nissan/Infiniti has to unveil to the vehicle market??

What's hilariously poetic is all you clowns that said in the recent past "But but... it's a hyundai" lol.

Nissan at the board meeting. I think our ancient cars are the best and CVT's are the future no matter what 3/4 of the world thinks. We can change their mind with CVT and EV... So how do you here at nissan think we should move forward with recent models???
Oooh oooh I have an idea!!! Raising his hand eagerly at the Nissan development meeting! Yes Mr. Nagasaki. Says the CEO. Nagasaki says We can kick 73 hp out of a juke instead of adding 20. Keep selling a 15 year old pick up and a 12 year old sports car. Then call our 13 yr old halo a marvel in technology though its managed with windows 5.1.
CEO says... yes Nagasaki . Great business model. No innovation is the new innovation. Now let's go sell cars!!!

https://carbuzz.com/news/infiniti-ma...han-we-thought

lol, I never said "but it's a Hyundai". Years ago, I said Hyundai and Kia were the 1990's Toyota of this era, and now they're proving me right by spinning off their own little "Lexus" brand...and dominating the market with affordable quality and features that keep, and outpace others for less money.

While I'm no longer a Nissan/Infiniti owner, I have kept up with the compan(ies), and there is just an absolute stunning lack of relevant innovation. Any kind of development seems to be lateral in nature, if not regressive. The 370Z and GT-R are probably the longest running HALO cars I know of in recent history, out-aging even the Corvette and Viper from embattled GM and FCA. I think the Ford F150 may have had a longer run in the 60's without meaningful change. Maybe.

Let me show you something...some of you are saying "light trucks are where Nissan makes their bread and butter". Okay...

One of these is a 2019 Nissan Frontier. One of these is a 2005 Nissan Frontier with aftermarket head unit.

Obviously your opinions are skewed by your own biases. And if you're boycotting hyundai. You probably have some type of political reason we wont discuss.

But the stinger and Q60 are near equal quality with a 5% edge to infiniti but the ergo goes to kia.
Torque delivery is superior in the Q60 but transmission responsiveness is superior in the kia. The kia costs $7,000 less loaded and provides the same performance as a infiniti with better overall responsiveness and less numbness.

Infiniti was a saloon car company when it started. The first 2 cars was a luxury sport sedan Q45 and a detuned skyline. I30. Tha. It was supposed to mix both performance and luxury. Then over the years... infiniti blurred the lines of their reality by sticking their finger in everyone's butt instead of sticking to what they know. At this moment.

Hyundai is a superior company. Get over the butthurt.

Just going to dump this here, for people who are stuck with their heads up their own backsides, living in the 80’s, believe anecdotal results are significant to anyone else, or just cannot get over the fact that the newer Korean cars are world class...

Building on this link... I'm bout to get long winded. Sorry. And if any of yall get annoyed. IDGAF

I'm just gonna say this... in most cases. Sub premium brands have interchangeable reliability on their most popular brands if those brands are American Japanese or Korean. One brand might me slightly more reliable than the other... but it's almost always negligible
. All sub premium cars seems to have recalls and issues on an equal level cuz most parts come from a universal outsource on most subpremium cars. The technology varies only in how they choose to package similar tech.

The only cars that are honestly problematic are german cars and those are the cars that people will say things like "you have to pay to play"

What most of us are buying today isnt more reliability. It's what tune feels right to us. Most cars use the same technology and twist an upgrade here n there to make it look like we're buying something special. When in fact what were buying is who had better software engineers.

It isnt till you buy cars with dedicated platforms that it starts to make and you're buying a True sports car or true saloon.

Nissans FM platform was not a sports car platform. It was a utilitarian platform. A great one. But not a sports one. What makes the Z special is it's been shortened and reinforced. And they picked intelligent parts for its performance. Ie
Ray's wheels, akebono brakes, vlsd (not so great but better than nothing) and things like in house chassis bracing for purchase

Corvettes on the other hand are a single chassis where there aims 10% parts sharing at max. These cars are built in separate factories with it's own set of engineers.

Other cars like bmw and cadillac or Alfa make saloon chassis. That makes a huge. As where nissan will stretch an FM platform to make an SUV or Z.

So in this CAR game. Great is more subjective than it seems. Great has little to do with how things are made and more to do with how they make you feel!!

A GTR... it's a $80,000 markup for an engine transmission & computer and to have an individual assemble production engine pieces It's still an FM platform car your armada is built from.

Porsche... hasn't been a truly hand built car since the 80's. So again... you're paying for the engine transmission and higher fidelity software attached to some modern suspension parts. Most cars today dont even earn their price of admission when you really look st what they're giving us.

No matter what we feel.

Corvette
Cayman
Audi R8
Lotus evora (to a point)
MB AMG GTS
Alfa Romeo 4c

Are the only cars that are truly engineered as real sports cars with individual platforms that could be considered as true sports cars.

ALFA ROMEO
CADILLAC
MERCEDES/BMW
Genesis/Kia

In that order exactly... were the only cars to put out a serious world class saloon chassis that actually put down serious modern day performance.

And yeah... hate me for saying it. But the camaro is so great because GM was gracious enough to give it a cadillac chassis with a Corvette engine transmission and suspension. It's a top tier drive with questionable plastics. But it's a top tier drive. Better than mustang. Better than challenger. Not cuz I own one. But I carefully spent months test driving sports cars to see what had the best performance value in 2017. Not the best features. Not the best materials.

When I put a bunch of cars to the test. Three cars stood out in this order.

The alfa romeo giulia
The corvette
Camaro SS W/1LE suspension

Everything else felt very similar.

The Z stands on it's own as a great parts bin sports car. I cant knock it for nothing except Nissan didnt update it and it needs 100lbs taken off the nose. Thats it. I think it's amazing that chevy could make a camaro feel like a Z while still having more mass an be less front heavy with blisteringly faster acceleration. If going faster isnt your thing. Save the cash n buy a Z. Cuz in my head. Its damn near similar excitement. But the camaro is more adjustable to different types of track duty and no cooling issues. The Camaro as a track car is better. Even in SS without 1LE even over the nismo.

If you made it this far? My point is .. Very few cars are special today. But very few cars are bad. Pick your poison and enjoy it.

Unless you're buying
Mc Laren
Ferrari
Lamborghini
Bugatti
Koenigsegg
Etc...

Were just picking what we like.
And if were not buying affordable dedicated chassis for sport or saloon? We just bought a relatively good car. Whatever that means to you
