The Z has just enough muscle, direct and responsive steering loads of feedback over 30mph. It's not 86 light but it works. And nobody has that with a useable trunk for less than $55K. Z may be low volume but it's a car you build because a Z is a religion!!! Ghosn don't get that shyt. He thinks the EV blade glider is exciting news???

I don't think I'll be able to pull off a 911 GTS and an Alfa? Cuz outside of the Z, I gotta bump up an extra 100K to get the type of experience I'm searching for?!!

Heh, obviously I have not been in the demographic that Porsche sells to since I didn't even know until now that a 911 with a "4" in its name is all wheel drive. That is awesome and now I am looking at 911s...

SO...in the past the GTS's have NOT been forced induction....correct?

While a new 911S is about $110K and a 911 Turbo is $180K..........

It's just hard to get excited about P cars. Maybe it's just me.

GTS has never been forced induction. So follow along.......Porsche has: base 911, the 911S, the 911 GTS, the 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS, 911 GT2, 911 GT2 RS. then we get the 4 added in for AWD excess the 4 does not apply to the GT2 or GT3, Then we have 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S. So the one to get IS the 911 4 GTS.....within the 911 you can get the power pack that has the revised heads, exhaust, cams, and tuning...Its expensive....as a add-on its about 15K....not many people get it. So the GTS has the power pack included and its the widebody.

once you drive one you get hooked on them. Other cars are faster or quicker....well except for the 911 Turbo....so go test drive one. A used 911 997.1 or 997.2 can be had for 50K or less. A GTS is still above 65K. I could have got a 911 997.1 Turbo for 52K, and I missed out.

Im a massive P Car fan. IMHO, a few of the models are actually worth the money. The engineering is astonishing in a handful of them. Truly amazing machines. Yes, alot of money for a car for us "Joes" but performance, feedback and luxury to best cars that at least twice as much and NOT looking like a dbag doing it. That last part never hit home so hard as it did recently. Was in Naples this weekend, as I am frequently just enjoying my weekend. I saw two Lambos, new ones. A white Aventador and green Murcielago. The FIRST thing I thought was...what a complete and saturated tools the balding, overweight, middle aged drivers looked like making those left turns. I laughed. Saw a bunch of Porsches obviously. Barely did a double take albeit for two high end 911's. A handful of Ferraris too, slightly lower on the tool factor than the Lambos. Slightly. I think one NEEDS to be a Hollywood mega star to pull off driving a Lambo with dignity in public.

My mind has been changing about AT vs MT vs DCT mainly due to the performance gap disappearing, but if I was rich and wanted a track Porsche, no doubt that I would go manual.

New Porsches could be dipped in dog-s**t and they still would look awesome!

Performance gap disappearing??? LMFAO!!
DCT has had an advantage over manual for 15+ years. When the Z first came out. They auto was the 4.6 to 60 and the manual was 4.9. with the auto having a .2 second lead in the quarter mile.
So I would say that auto superiority has been a long time happening. It's just manual heads are NOW FINALLY beginning to accept that manuals might be more fun.... I'll give you that. But have been honestly the inferior transmission for a decade. There's just no argument to that...

That said, I think it's AMAZING that Porsche did make a row your own in the GT-3. Cuz the 911R is freakin pricey.

It just makes sense that a machine can be more responsive than a human for sure. The manual in the BMW M4 was just horrible compared to the Z, but the DCT was pretty impressive when I test drove them. I have subscribed to the ideology that a true sports car is a manual, but my next car is going to be a daily driver, so my requirements are less rigid (even though sedans are out).

I agree on that the auto is now more better (pun intended) but it has an evolution of things. The old autos were not reliable and putting high horsepower to them ended badly. Those issues were a lot less for a manual. What cracks up is the all the talk about having to row gears on a manual versus an auto...it's the same but different lol!

I would say the "purest" form of sports car driving is a manual. But the word "true", that goes somewhere else and then I'd have to disagree.

I like both flappy paddles and manuals. I feel the paddles create a little more versatility. As far as DCT/Auto, "not being true sports cars"? With that I take mild issue as to me. I don't think that leaving out the step of not having to depress a clutch wouldn't suddenly make a car, not a true sports car. I believe if the car was made with a non shifting auto, that would be more conducive to a car NOT being a true sports car. Another thing would be CVT transmission which removes gear changes from the equation altogether.

It's just a matter of semantics, metrics go to autos now. Thats a fact. A human with a mechanical interface will NEVER be as efficient as an electronic interface. Just simple physics. Fun factor? Row, row row row your gears gently down the track....
