"TOYOTA HAS LOST ITS WAY"

At this point, toyota should have stripped 60 lbs out the car. Then added 90 in a turbo system. And the 86 would sell more if the flappy paddle car wasnt emotionless. Too many good paddle shifted cars to waste .cash on a automatic 86. Toyota is doing it wrong. The should borrow the dct Acura has in the tlx.

I drove a top of the line Veloster Turbo last weekend, had DCT and i was BLOWN away. Its wrong wheel drive but its SO good its ALMOST like you dont notice that problem.

Power for the new Supra is very much aligned with the previous generations - Leistung (220 PS) bei 6000 min
(330 PS) bei 5600 min = last generation power as factory reported.

I dunno, maybe its just me but unless Toyota has something tricky planned for this new Supra I dont see this as too exciting. With almost all Z iterations something REVOLUTIONARY has come from it whether it just be price/performance, something no other or a very select few manufacturers (if that) could answer to. Im sure itll look ok, drive really well and all. Quick too! However....so what, cuz at my guess of starting 50 large im of the "meh" opinion.

I dunno, but I'm not convinced that the BMW involvement is a good thing as far as excitement and reliability is concerned. I mean the only reason Toyota went with the BMW partnership was to save development costs. That does not sound like the same Toyota that developed the revolutionary Lexus LFA. I don't even know why they couldn't of just used some of their Lexus know-how to come up with something uniquely Toyota? Anyways, we'll soon see what all the fuss is about once the new Supra hits the streets. I just hope it'll be more Toyota than BMW. But it does not look that way.

It does not matter about the issue of co-development via BMW. The car will not be sold in great numbers in some markets. Given the taste of boxes people have now vs cars, the liability will be first on Toyota with respect to warranty claims on all the parts BMW or not. Its being sold as a Toyota.

There will be arrangements for cost recovery for specific BMW parts that one will not hear about overtly. Risk sharing is the norm given total developments costs that are quite high now to bring something to market.

Toyota is saying it may be the last combustion sports car they build? So that in itself may be an incentive for people to buy.

Not really - not as long as there are other, better internal combustion engine sports cars on the market for the same or less money.

Guess we'll need to see how things play out with this baby.

You have a good point. Toyota may be writing itself out of a soon to be emerging market. These millenials n gen yz'ers. They're effing up the enthusiast market.

Or Toyota is just adding this for marketing.
Now: "get one before they're gone forever".
Later: "kidding".

Don't start looking at the TTRS with stage 1 apr tune... or a ZL-1 Camaro

For competitors you have to look at the same type of car that being a "Coupe" and of similar money withing a +-10% range "57-63-69k". That being said:
Audi TT RS
Merc E100 Coupe
Chevy Corvette
Shelby GT350
Jaguar F-Type
Camaro ZL1
Cadilac ATS-V Coupe
Dodge Challenger Hellcat
Lexus RC F
BMW M4
Alfa 4C

If it's a no frills non luxury car your basically competing with American cars. And they are turning out to be decent handling cars too and start at 400hp/tq range.

I am about 75% sure I will be driving a TT RS here soon. I need that all wheel drive and that interior is impressive.

Eat sleep drive laid out some reasons to be positive about the supra. He's got some valid points on glass half full note.

I stopped at when he said it should be called, "brz and 86 version II" ewwww lol. Keeping the Supra name was the right idea. Teaming up with bmw was the wrong idea.
