They will most likely just name it the Z or bring over the correct name and call it the Fairlady Z. Either way, they can still name it a lower number based on displacement. It will most likely be multiple engine choices or be a 3.0TT like the Q50/60 in which case they can just name it the 300Z. They have plenty of choices as far as naming.

I mean it makes sense. My wife and I named our first child Zack. We didn't give our 2nd and 3rd child a name since we started at the end of the alphabet and ran out of letters.

The story didn't refer to any new Z/Z35 models. Or do we need to read between, behind, above and below the lines to decipher Nissan Corps. announcement?

Still no real news about the new Z. Very disappointed. At least they should tease us somehow.

"Nissan lost that battle and sold barely 1,000 units in 1997. A legendary car that had helped establish Datsun (later Nissan) as a legitimate player in the U.S. market was sent off to the graveyard."

That's Off-The-Record: The Almost Stillborn Nissan Z

How do you abandon the car that made you who you are? Seriously!!

I have a comparison. At work, when discussing changing a process/method my company had been using for a while, I had to say to them (respectfully of course), "While I appreciate the sentiment, that idea is no longer profitable."

Emotion aside and looking purely at profit and portfolio, if it doesn't make money or have a future making money, divest from it.

While I/we may not like it, this is probably what they really want to say to us about the Z.

My gut feeling is that Nissan will not kill off the Z forever. They may send the Z into a hiatus, like GM did the Camaro. Sooner, rather than later, Nissan will realize their mistake and resurrect the legendary Z. Until then, we will mod, tune, soup up and drive our current Z's and b!tch about all things Nissan.

I get the logic.... but one.... it's a parts bin car. The ONLY thing costing them any real money is the sheetmetal and ECU.

Lastly... Where are their balls.

Look at the auto industry like a boxing ring. Nissan would be a boxer that would enter the ring with hippie clothes and a guitar singing kumbaya instead of boxing gloves and a mouth piece saying Dead meat. Smh... fxckin pu$$ies have NO PRIDE.

Some things are about heritage. They need to take a lesson from GM and Ford. Who both say their corvette and Mustang will ALWAYS exist.

The new Q60 is far from being a true Z, but at least it would be a small step in the right direction.
