“Even we don’t know,” Emery told motoring.com.au when we asked him about a US report claiming Nissan will show a new Z at Tokyo.

“And we would know if there was something pending, so there’s nothing pending. Not any time soon.”

Just like I thought. No Z to be presented in Tokyo. I knew it. That's why I'm looking at other companies. I may just go to Toyota when that Supra come out.

Nissan is gahbige...

They should just drop the new VR30DETT motor from the Q60 in the 370 Z and call it a day for a few years. That would be the ultimate update.

I'd take it, even if nothing else changed.

You think Nissan has forgotten the Z? No! Not at all.
It's in their new Leaf marketing bla bla! Twice!

That would significantly increase production cost using 2 engines during assembly.

Ford figured out how to do more than 4 engines for the mustang.... they can figure it out

Do you realize the r and d for a new production car cost...

Ford also probably sells more mustangs in a week than Nissan sells zs in six months. It's easy to amortize multiple engines when you sell 100k units. Nissan these days is lucky to sell 5k zs a year.

That's the problem right there. But, they would sell more if they invested in R and D. How many new Mustangs have come out in the past 9 years while the Z has remained the same? For that matter, how many times have they redesigned the Altima, Sentra, Rogue etc. Why buy a new Z when you can buy identical used Z's all day long? Come on Nissan, keep, the Z fresh and it will sell!

Default [OFFICIAL] Discussion for the next new Z35?

Even at its peak, the 350/370s never saw the sales of the pony cars. Between the lack of a back seat and the comparatively higher pricing, the z has been a niche vehicle for a long time now.

Even with more updates, they're not going to jump from 5-10k annually to the level of the camaro or mustang.

the R&D has been done with the vr30dett. considering how much lighter the 370z is than the new q60 i think the update would make it a super blast to drive.

They sell like 2k GTR's a year yet invest a ton of money in that car...
If they leaned on the Z as more of a baby GTR with the VR30DTT then it would have more success.

Halo cars are always a money loser. They just exist to generate press and dealership visits so they can sell you an Altima.
