I’m more concerned with the performance. We haven’t heard anything about that yet. My Pro’s: factory warranty, which will probably be voided days after getting one. Price: if <40,000 out the door, I’m all in. Cons: not a big fan of electric steering. ‘New Model” even though it’s not really new, it’s bound to have some bugs, but that’s where the factory warranty comes in. |
they are here in socal dealers?

Maybe not the place for this but I briefly saw the 400z in flagstaff arizona tonight. Was grey I believe.
I recognized the headlights immediately but thought it couldn't be. I was going the opposite direction so I couldn't follow it for a bit. |

I'll bet it was a z... Those headlights are fairly unique. |

I really like the side view of this car and the rear has grown on me with the little spoiler. Front view, not 100% sold. However to be honest, that’s how I felt about my G35 Coupe, and owned that for nearly 9 years and I think the best looking I’ve ever owned.
I’ll wait for the reviews, at least 1 model year, take a test drive and then make a decision as to whether that will be my last ICE car. My M2 is perfectly fine and only other car I think about getting besides this new Z is a 911S. I know for my kind of driving, the 911 would be a totally irrational purchase, but at my current age, I’ve never owned a Porsche and maybe should spend my money instead of leaving it to the kids. |

You enjoying your 911 > your kids your 911 |
the new Z looks pretty good. I hope the rear is as muscular as the 370z. I don't mind getting the first year model, but am worry that Nissan will have some major changes like they did with the 370z and g37 on the second year model.
I do like the 992s.. It looks much better than the 991.2s and could be the last ice 911. Quote:

Ordered new M240i. I tried to like it but this is just not that attractive at all. |

Chalk White would be nice.

I like the dash/interior, but the exterior style is a bit boring, especially compared to the 370z. I wish the rear is more muscular like the Aston Martin Vantage.

Anyone know what revisions Nissan made to either the engine or the transmission bell housing to mate them up?
|
hope they have redesigned/improved the crappy CSC.

In regards to bolting the transmission up to the motor, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they work with Z1 for some OEM-level accessories? I've read so much speculation over the years that I don't recall what actually did/didn't happen, but pretty sure that Clubsport 370z that was debuted years ago used something like an adapter plate for the Redsport motor that was in it. |

They definitely revised the transmission bell housing to the move the CSC to the outside. As for the clubsport23, they didn't use an adapter plate. The 370z 6MT bolt right up to the VR30 except for two holes at the bottom that don't align, apparently it wasn't that big of an issue. I can't really tell by the pictures they put up. https://www.nissanzclub.com/forum/th...-close-up.478/ |

I really dig it in white.
I feel like it needs some brake cooling ducts on the bottom sides of the front bumper tho, perhaps the nismo will rectify that. |

That's the one I'll be getting. Love the white. I'm sure many are already working on alternative front ends/bumpers for the new Z. Looking forward to seeing what's available when I take the plunge! |
Sorry, but the white just proves what I've thought all along. No dice. I used to be excited. Then my feelings started dropping. Now I'm purely negative. Again I say sorry. Looks are subjective for sure. I reserve my final decision to a real life viewing, but for now, blech.
This thing is less than a 370 in every way except HP and an available 9 spat. Looks wise its 3 steps backwards from a 370. Its almost ugly to me. The design goal was obviously a 5 car mix up but it fails. It looks like a 370Z with a new bottom, and not a good one. The black roof thing is a cover up to hide the 370 same top. It's trying to take the old 370 and make it Jag and Aston Martin, but completely fails. Or at least 90% fail. I'm glad Nissan tried. But they need to get their stuff in order. This effort is embarrassing to me. I predict this car will be a big huge sales flop. Nissan needs a new design and project management team. Their recent offerings suck. It is not appealing enough for me to consider, and like you I feel the 370Z is a much more original and appealing design to me. One Z fan. I think its difficult to predict what the sales success will be. |
I just reread my post and with a morning fresh brain read what sounds like a rant. I didn't mean it that way, so sorry for coming off kind of harsh.
I'm basically just trying to say that this car, for ME, does not have the visual appeal of the 370. It looks like they took a 370 and beat it with an ugly stick. This is not a car for 370 owners to swap out to. Its a car for enthusiasts on a budget that don't have a car and want one. The availability of 400 hp with a manual trans all for $40k is the major sales appeal, not the looks. I do think its great Nissan made it available for those people. I'll stick with my 370. On a slightly different topic, why does Nissan always think splash guards need to be put on their Z cars? These new ones shown on this white car look horrible. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk |
I like splash guards because they keep the rear bumper cleaner than without them and they look better than mud flaps :twocents:

But as long as they are an option I'm good with them being offered for the people who want them. If Nissan ever makes them mandatory (like the black roof), then all bets are off. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk |

I gotta say, when I really look at the diffuser in this picture, with this light, and this close up, I am not fond of this rear diffuser. How it flares back from the side, then goes up and over the exhaust pipes. I'm not sure how I've not noticed it until now. Perhaps its just this lighting or angle in this picture, but as it is here is really looks bad, IMO.
And when we saw it on the white a few days ago with the splash guards. Ugh. Puke city.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...093cb0b219.jpg Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk |

I rarely say this on the 370Z forums, because I am here to learn about the little brother of my Infiniti and not share my opinion of the 370Z, but, I gotta say the 370Z looks like total crap to me. Just garbage in comparison to a Z32, TBH. When the 350Z came out I was so mad about Ghosn's obvious French influence on Nissans, and the 370Z was just the worst manifestation of that. Lobster claw tail/headlights, bulbous, stupid fangs, awkward proportions and stupid looking door handles. I don't mean to sound like a jerk to people who like the 370Z, but to me, the new Z is a million times better looking than the 370Z. I just gotta counterpoint your criticisms of the new Z. No disrespect! |
Quote:
I figure it's better to voice my dislike for the new Z here rather than on the new forum. No point and let them have their fun. As for the rear end, I'm sorry, but the new rear looks weird and its boring. The new spoiler sucks compared to the 370. The 300ZX *** was ugly as hell to me in 1990s so imitating it is beyond me, and this new diffuser is horrible. The front? This new front is better? Are you kidding? I can see arguments against both, but wow this new square box thing takes the cake. Let the discussions continue.... Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk |
