Well, in any case, the McLaren would be a blast

I can't drive AT with paddles at full speed on the track. It's really sad lol :ugh:

Hotrodz 08-14-2020 09:01 AM

Diven both. My wife's car is an Audi S5 with a DCT. It is a lot of fun too.

My brother has a full sim setup and depending on the car it may be paddles, sequential or manual transmission. By far the fastest shifting is with the floppy ears followed the sequential and manual. All three are fun.

On the street I prefer to row my gears. I don't have any experience at the track with the other yet.

The first release will be the base and sport and they will come with a manual. The Nismo will be released a year later and only come in an auto. The auto will not be a DCT. That is all I know for now.

Glad I TT my Z. No auto for me. DCT = Yes, I see no issues with that. Say NO to a SLUSH box. Just got out of my wife's Vette. At WOT, it will bang the gears, all the other times I absolutely hate it.

NecioVato 08-14-2020 12:08 PM

what doesn't make sense to me is if you are going to add a 6MT to the base and sport model but a DCT for the Nismo - why? Is it going to have such a power bump that the clutch in the base/sport won't be able to handle it? Is it strictly for 0-60 numbers? I just not sure why the DCT.
@Hotrodz - did the guy you spoke to tell you why a DCT only? Or was the DCT ONLY avail for a Nismo?

18 speed, with split shift 2 speed diff. Double clutching. :driving: Everything after that is easy.

KCZ 08-14-2020 08:27 PM

So are the base and sport NOT going to come with an AT? That seems odd.

Pretty sure that meant base/sport will be available with both. NISMO only AT.

Ventruck 08-16-2020 04:48 PM

Wonder how good that Auto would be if that's all the Nismo is getting.

Also wondering if that mansmission has a nicer/smoother action than ours.

I'm sure it will be the same one in the Q50 and 60.

I dont care how fast it is. After driving a DCT I simply will not go back to a standard slushbox tranny. Im done with manual transmissions in south Florida.

I'm done with manual transmissions in any metro area. Life's too short.

Yeah...... totally.

I get it's just a rendering of what it might look like. But if they want to out do bmw supra, they will need a bit more of a pop.
Of course lay down the right amount of power.

UNKNOWN_370 08-28-2020 12:15 AM

I mean... 2023 release? I'm not gonna wait that long for a Z. Hopefully when they do drop it? I'm praying they'll give the Z a deserving transmission?

I'll just bid the waiters enjoyment and I'll be a fan from the sidelines.

sunkist350z 08-28-2020 12:18 AM

I like the rear reminds of the Ferrari 812 super fast.

NissanFreak81 08-28-2020 06:56 AM

Not waiting that long. Guess I will be moving onto something else.

it'll be out next fall unless more rona nonsense hurts things.

however, if it looks like that i may pass. i already have a nissan with a TT V6 lol

i'll wait to see the Z06 C8 or just stick with the plan for a mclaren.

A few articles came out yesterday claiming a fall 2022 reveal. Sales for 2023... I agree about its looks. Ive been struggling with that since it came out. The Q60 looks waaay better, but that transmission has to go. The 2008 g37 had the same problem. But at least back then Nissan went from 5 speed to 7 speed in 2009. So far im really digging my camaro's performance. So maybe ill get a used red sport. Do you think the GTR DCT would fit in the Q60RS? If it did.. would it have to be an AWD model?

280driver 08-28-2020 01:25 PM

Those articles are basically the same (sourced). I don’t believe the ‘23 date is accurate. There is a Nissan insider and a person that works for a Nissan supplier that both say production starts in 9/21.

If this were a new chassis, I could see a delay. The new car will use the existing chassis, a current engine and drivetrain so hard to see how it would be delayed.

NecioVato 08-28-2020 04:20 PM

Since the 'rona' has kinda screwed everything up etc as far as releases of everything out there. When would one start to see 'spy' shots or 'manufacturer tests drives' of the new Z - lets say it is going to start being made in mid to late 9/21 - does that mean this car wouldn't be released or reviewers wouldn't be getting their hands on one till closer to early 2022 at the earliest?

I’d bet we see the car officially next year (maybe early next year) and car available early ‘22.

Not happening from my source. He just shook his head and said it will be rhe weakest link in speaking to the auto.

The way news was moving. It looked like this year. But since its not. When you start seeing camo Z's on track... it should be 6 months later production begins. If history serves correct.

the GTR DCT wouldnt work without a new chassis. well i cant say for sure but based on the design and being rear mounted in the GTR i'm just assuming there would be placement and engineering challenges to make it work under a Z.

It will work. It depends on how much money Nissan wants to throw at it.

They are not to make the Z a little GTR lol. They history is to stay with what works for that platform. Until they make a wholesale change with the Infinity line they are not doing anything different with the Z.:ugh2:

And now back-tracking on reports last week that the car had been delayed. Things are looking up gents.
