You’re right. Teaser front end is pointed like an S30.

A Nismo nose with less slope to it.

That picture looks like some food package in Japan. :icon14:

This dude noticed no GT-R in the new nissan commercial. Hmm?
Anyway someone else's predictions. Not that serious. Just something for Z lovers.

It could be the new Nissan Goofy

Seen the commercials, seen the renderings. Not jumping at it like I did for the 370. 400Hp is a step down for me, twin turbos =517 RWHP. I’ll need to really see it. Putting aside some money but this 400Z has yto be better than my very reliable daily driver; summer and winer.

Amazing how differing view points are on this subject. I have the exact opposite feelings.

Just never liked the idea of breaking up the body lines with the silver handles. 2 Z’z owned and both times swapped them out for color matched.

Anyone else getting BRZ from the front of the orange render?

I'm saying it again. From what we see here, its a reworked 370Z chassis. The proportions are identical. Even the exhaust pipes are the same distance apart. I don't even think they changed the windshield or door window shapes at all. Looks just like a 370Z. As for the overall body, it looks like they are definitely trying to blend at least 2 if not 3 old Z car looks. Unfortunately, for now, it looks rather bland compared to the 370Z. At least in my opinion. I prefer the Porsche styling of the 370Z, with bulged fender wells and rounder snout and tail. Here's to hoping the final product has a bit more flare and ends up looking more like a Jag or an Aston.

I get it. But at the same time it was something that made it stand apart from most other cars. Not just the silver, but the outward boldness of it. Some really cool cars hide the handles, which is great too. With the 350 and 370 Nissan did the opposite. Design some cool handles and say "look at me." I liked it.

We’ve know for awhile it’s just a reworked 370. It was either going to be that or no Z at all due to Nissan’s financial woes. I think it looks much better than the 370.

Well I think we haven't "known" anything. Its all been assumptions. Go back and read this thread. There is nothing "for sure." Even insiders aren't really talking. What you say makes total sense for sure, but unless you are an insider, then you don't really "know."

IF the video, which is what this orange rendering is based from, is true, then I 100% disagree with you on which looks better. But looks are subjective. For me, this rendering is completely void of any real style. Its homogenized. Its a Bud Light or Miller Lite of sports cars. Aka boring. I sincerely hope there is more to the final car than what we are seeing here. But if you think this rendering looks better than the 370, then you and I are on complete opposite ends of spectrum.

My father ran a Datsun/Nissan dealership for 20 yrs. I still have connections. Was told awhile ago the new Z was an updated Z34 chassis.

+1. Cool.

At the same time with modern forums like this, that really doesn't mean much for real truth anymore. When my wife was getting her Pontiac Solstice, because of the forum, I knew more than anyone at any dealers. But enough on that. Let's just agree to disagree about the looks. Cheers.

I agree. Trying to shoehorn 240Z aesthetics on a 370Z body just doesn't look right.

I would have preferred if Nissan went the route they went with the Murano refresh they did for 2019. The Murano has the same boomerang style head and tail lights like the 370Z.

2018 Murano pre-refresh with Xenon projector headlights as seen in existing 370Z:

https://cars.usnews.com/static/image...gularfront.jpg

2019 Murano refresh with LED headlights and LED light strips with refreshed fascia:

https://cdn.carbuzz.com/gallery-imag...200/629202.jpg

Imagine if Nissan did the same with the 370Z. New LED headlight housings with LED light strips as seen in the refreshed Murano and just a more aggressive bumper cover. Would have cost them less too, as it would require almost no retooling as fender and hood shapes would have remained the same.

I love it looks sexy like the Jaguar F-type, love this orange if it looks like this I am selling my 370z.

OptionZero 07-12-2020 10:56 PM

We kinda knew the “z35” would be really a “z34.5” since nissan obviously cannot afford to design a new platform from scratch

We’re all waiting to see how far of an evolution from the z34 it turns out to be

The z34 was a shortened, widened, lightened z33

Really just give me a drive train to steal

That's what I was thinking.

I love my black 370Z and the orange 400Z render is terrific. It is refreshingly clean and minimalistic compared to every other new vehicle these days, which are all overdesigned and have gigantic grills and fake vents all over. I hope they extend the wheelbase slightly so that there is more legroom in the interior.

2017370ZBlack 07-14-2020 02:21 AM

The true ground-up Z will be the electric Z around 2026. This new 400Z will be the last gasoline powered Z.

Definitely hoping for a little more legroom as well.

triso07 07-14-2020 09:42 AM

Source for this electric Z or is this just unfounded speculation?

Also in regards to the looks, it's simple and elegant, instead of overstyled like so many other vehicles these days. Designers create a "striking" look which grabs attention and, if done right, possibly looks good and modern for a few years, then they drop off a cliff and age terribly. There's a reason Porsche's look good for years and years after they are replaced.

Also, are we really saying we wish Nissan just refreshed the boomerang lights as opposed to what they're giving us?

In my opinion:
The front looks too blunt instead of aerodynamic
The rear is nice but unimaginative
The sides are missing the 370's wonderful body curves and the wheel flares/ bulges
Overall nice but not really head-turning

Exactly! This is why I would have preferred a Murano style update instead.

2017370ZBlack 07-14-2020 04:28 PM

A Murano style on the Z would be horrible!

Lot I don't mean look like a Murano. I mean updated the same way the Murano was updated, by updating the projector boomerang headlights to full LED headlights and just a more aggressive bumper cover. See my previous post on the previous page.

2018 Murano projector boomerangs (similar to existing 370Z boomerangs):

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/OIMAA...cQ/s-l1600.jpg

2019 Murano LED boomerangs with LED strips along the edge:

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/fesAA...Fa/s-l1600.jpg

https://cnet3.cbsistatic.com/img/fhc...rano-promo.jpg

LED refreshed headlights like that would have looked good on the 370Z
